Do you think the phonics volume 2 by itself is ok to do without volume 1? Also, Are each of the books supposed to be for a semester? My little one is beyond learning the basic letters and letter sounds, and is working on blends such as ch, sh, ing, ee, etc, which he already has a pretty good grasp on. So I would hate to buy volume 1 and not need it. Would these blends I mentioned plus more blends be covered in Volume 2? In reality Im looking for something to have him practice more advanced words for one semester. Lastly, does Gods story level 1 have to be purchased with the generations phonics books or can they be done separately during different times? I ask because I am looking to possibly having my son do the level 1 Gods story reading curriculum next year, and having him finish working on phonics the rest of this year. Thank you so much for your videos and responses. You are always so helpful.

@@Lglasses09 Book 2 starts with lesson 90 so I think they are designed to be done in one year but I think they could and probably should be done in two separate years. Book two does seem more advanced to me. It has dropped the y and add ies, ough, adding suffixes. You definitely could just pick up book two. None of the books have to be purchased together. You can get what you want and use it whenever you want.

Are you able to use an older curriculum for all of your kids? I have 5 kids 13-4 and am really looking for a way to simplify life a bit. I currently read most of our history, geography, devotions, and science as a group.

@@KerryReekie All of the "text" books can be reused. If you have then filling out the workbooks those would need to be repurchased, but their workbooks are pretty affordable. If you wait for a sale you can get them under $20 I think. Does that answer your question?

Thank you for this video! I have been looking at Generations. And while I like the curriculum, didn't think the LA was a all in one curriculum. Do you have any suggestions about a LA curriculum that includes everything?
@FamilyStyleLearning8 ай бұрын
I don't know how old your kids are but I can tell you what we used. I like All About Spelling, I have a video about how I teach my kids to read and a video about handwriting. I don't teach grammar yet but plan on using IEW. I don't use an all in one largely because I don't think kids need it all at once. I don't know why a 7 year old needs to know an adjective. Also you don't have to do each every day. Sorry if that wasn't helpful at all. You are welcome to email me or find me on Instagram and we can chat more specifics.

I have been looking at Sunshine country and the Patricia St. John books. We're reading Giant Killer right now and my daughter loves it and so do I just for myself ha ha and Mary Jones is what we read in the fall and definitely will become part of our family culture. We're not catholic but she died on Dec. 28 and my daughter asked if we could talk about her every year on that day, like a saints day like Valentine's, Nicholas and St. Patrick... it's been a huge blessing. Thank you for going more in depth on the Language Arts. Do you have a video about how you would use God's big story as a group?
@FamilyStyleLearning8 ай бұрын
That's really sweet that she wants to remember Mary Jones! We're looking forward to reading Giant Killer soon! We have decided not to use God's Big Story at this time, but if we did I would just read a chapter a day to my kids and maybe use the workbook to guide conversation. Thanks for commenting!!!

Have you tried the curriculum, Rod and Staff? Their reading program goes through Bible stories as well, and it reminds me of Gsnerations but Rod and Staff is not colorful. What do you use for LA? I have a 7 year old almost 8 year old, and I want a biblical worldview curriculum for this but I’ve heard AAS is great but it’s not Christian. Also, which book of history curriculum do you recommend for Generations for a 7 year old?
@FamilyStyleLearning4 ай бұрын
@@kita3256 I have not tried Rod and Staff. AAL does not have any kind of claim of faith. They do really well at staying focused just on their subject without bias. While I agree I would prefer a Biblical LA I have not found one that teaches with the same method and I'm such a fan of the rules AAS uses. I really didn't like Masterbooks and my 6-year-old son likes Generations but it's still not what I would prefer. I only teach reading, handwriting and spelling for the young ages. We're just now introducing grammar in 5th grade, my youngest do join in. We're using Grammar Galaxy. It doesn't have anything Biblical in it but is written by a Christian. I'll try to answer your other questions on your other post. Always feel free to email me if you want to keep talking. familystylerevival@gmail.com

Hi! I have a struggling kindergarten reader. Do you think this phonics program coupled with All About Spelling would be a good way to go? I really love the Bible integration with the generations curriculum.
@FamilyStyleLearning6 ай бұрын
Generations just released information on a new Kindergarten Core Curriculum Package that you might want to check out, but yes, I think it can teach reading in a gentle way. Like I said I love AAS, you might be on lesson 1 for a long time and that's ok. Go at your own pace. Give your kiddo lots of time. Some kids don't read till 7 or 8 and that's ok, just keep practicing. Have you seen my video on how I teach my kids to read? That might be helpful. It came out last September. I appreciate you clicking through my affiliate link as well... generations.idevaffiliate.com/54.html

I recently purchased several things from Generations and love everything we received. Do you know if they plan to come out with an official language arts line?

I don't think so.
