All the elementary history in the series has a focus on different people. It's almost like a big missionary and people of faith bundle in each continent. It's so amazing.

We’re in year two of using Generations history. We started level 1 and 2 last year, and finished level 2 and started level 3 this year. We love it and are excited to try other subjects.

We're on our 2nd year using Generations and we love it!! The reading and history has been big hits in my family. Last year we read through Gods Big Story 3 and 4 as a family and now we are reading through the history together. Im partial to GBS but the kids all love the history!

Can't wait to hear how you liked it! We've used God's Big Story and some of the read alouds and we've loved them. I'm using some of the literature for my 7th grader next year. I have a few of the high school history courses too and they are amazing from the parts I've read.

This has been such an amazing curriculum! I love how the focus of first grade is for the student to read their own Bible provided in the reading curriculum. My daughter has just gotten to that stage and read the creation account. She loved it and felt so big. Such a beautiful curriculum that’s biblically based. Science and history is her favorite subject, also from generations.

We started out with Gods Big Story Level 5 but paused as some of the stories discussed adultery, bigamy and other heavy subjects that we just weren't ready to discuss yet with our 10 year old. It is beautiful and factual of the bible which I like. We plan on using the 7th grade reading program next year. Thank you for the flip thru on the history and science as I was wondering what that looked like. Have a great week!

We've been using their books this year and have loved them. I've been writing for them this year on some upcoming math books and it's been fun. The history and God's Big Story has been our favorites.

Love Generations! We don’t use them for everything just bc of learning styles. But we have LOVED their phonics and reading curriculum GODS BIG STORY. LOVE that the focus is on the main goal of reading is #1 being able to read the Bible for themselves. Listening to my 8 and 6 year old reading these simplified (but accurate) Bible accounts is just awesome. Excited to see how it progresses for level 2. My understanding is that every level has the same stories, but they get more advanced. So the kids who do it year after year are gaining more details and knowledge while memorizing the stories. I also ordered The story of Jesus’ people for next year. They do run sales. I picked up next years curriculum on cyber Monday for about half off plus a free book!

Would the reformed protestant view of the material be a hurdle for non-reformed protestant families? How entrenched is that view in the material? Thanks.

It talks a lot about God’s providence and sovereignty.

Thanks for sharing, I haven’t heard of this curriculum. That science seems a lot more age-appropriate for a 5th grader to do independently; my 4th grader is doing Apologia Anantomy through co-op and the vocab/comprehension level required just doesn’t match his age. 😬

Thanks for sharing! The Story of Jesus’ People looks really good! Will this be your main history for your first grader or will you also do Story of the world/Biblioplan? How long do lessons take?
@PenniesAndSalt6 ай бұрын
I actually don’t use Biblioplan with my younger kiddos. She will usually just color the picture while we read it but that’s it. It’s too much info for her. So yes, this generations will be her history.

Thanks for sharing! I'm trying to figure out the appropriate level for my 2nd grader for reading. Is the textbook meant to be read independently by the student and the read alouds read by the teacher?

I'm sorry to post this here because it's unrelated but I was hoping you'd see it!!! I know you live cle learning to read. We're doing aar and I'm not sold so I'm thinking of switching. I went online to order and there are a lot of components besides the teachers guide and light units. There are abc cards, word cards, phrase cards, sight word cards, a blending ladder thing, practice sheets etc. So do you utilize all of this or how do you do it? I wanted to check bc I know you're super familiar with the program and have had great success!!! Ps- thanks to you, we've switched from saxon to cle for my six yr old as well ❤
@PenniesAndSalt6 ай бұрын
Hey Lauren! We love LTR! We use the teacher’s guide, light units, sight word cards, letter cards, and phrase cards. You do need to make sure your child knows their letter sounds because although it seems like it starts slow, they begin blending and working on sight words in the first unit. I hope that helps! 💜

Do you like this better than apologia?
@PenniesAndSalt6 ай бұрын
It’s very different. I love Apologia but it doesn’t always fit our homeschool season. My kids will be taking a science at co-op next year and that, plus the intensity of Apologia doesn’t fit for us next year. My oldest will be doing Apologia Biology next year for highschool.
