I remember I set up a language log inspired by you after watching your previous language study organisation video and it's been working so well for me! Thank you ^_^

That is definitely a massive project! But inspired. I am also working on organizing my studies in a similar way.

I'm just in awe of someone who can stay motivated to learn so many languages. Initially I find it interesting, but I'm honestly so bad at it and I just die inside honestly lol. Spanish is a hard class at my school so I have to work hard, but i still only pull low a's lol. I got a 46 on a quiz but we'll call that freshman years low point lol

I think the main thing for me is that I find a way to make it fun - either I love the music or the food or a tv show...or I’m motivated because I want to go to the country! There are tons of languages I’ve started but haven’t felt that particular motivation, so I drop them 😅 (that’s not to say I won’t find the motivation someday, but I try not to force it so languages always stay fun!)

Sooo ... some thoughts on this. Of course this is a channel about stationery and journaling, and in this context this is a great video, well done. But a word of advice: If anybody is watching this because they want to be more productive, these handwritten logs are not the way to go, in my humble opinion. If you really feel the need to track everything in such a detailed way, well, create a template on the computer, print it out and put it in a binder. While tracking your habits, you will find out if this template works for you, and if not, you can easily modify it on the computer. And yes, of course these handwritten journals are more aesthetically pleasing, and maybe you just enjoy the process of creating them. That’s okay if you do both the language learning and the tracking voluntarily. You have two great hobbies that go hand in hand well. But if you should actually be studying for school and prefer to spend your time planning and journaling - then you are just procrastinating. Every hour of doodling and colour-coding would have been spent more efficiently learning vocabulary.

These are all good points! However, I will point out that I spend about 5 minutes setting up my monthly log, maybe 10 minutes for a tracker that lasts a few months... and they take about 2 minutes to fill out (if that...). Everyone has their own style for studying (for example, I learn languages for fun and so am not hyper-regulated in how I go about it) but I hope that no one watching my language log videos thinks I spend that long setting things up! What you’re seeing is an accumulation of months of tracking that, individually, take very little time ☺️

@Robert Brainerd , oh, yes, I'm 100 % in favour of taking notes by hand when learning a language! It's one of the best ways to help your brain to memorize stuff. I just thought that all the tracking and making one's notes and trackers beautiful would consume way too much valuable time. But Caitlin has already pointed out that her process of tracking doesn't require as much time as I thought, so I stand corrected. :-)

Me encanta tu forma de organizarte el estudio de los idiomas ^^. Voy a tomarlo como ejemplo para estudiar inglés y chino. Muchas gracias por tu aportación y mucho ánimo con el estudio. PD: También me gustan algunos K-Dramas como Descendant of the sun, it's okey that's love, y Playfull kiss.

I find reading in French super hard. I'm pretty good with understanding when I have to listen but I just can't deal with that passé simple. I'm form Belgium so I've had plenty of French but that tense... I can't hahah. Amazing how many languages you've taken on and actually keep up with!
@SunshineStationery

I actually never officially learned passé simple...I picked it up from reading and honestly...I just mostly ignore the endings as long as I know what the verb is 😂😂 (I also don’t read super difficult/flowery literature in French...I stick to mystery novels mostly since my cloze/predictive skills in that genre are pretty good 😳). I think the best thing for me was figuring out how to make languages a part of my daily life - I save my “effort” for new languages and use habit with the others!

Can you do a video on your reading and whether there are specific books you recommend for language learning (not textbooks)? Loved the journaling idea, I don't practice writing in Portuguese enough. October may be a Portuguese month in my bujo. 😊

I'm a fair bit older than you, so a couple decades out of school, but I'd like to learn some grocery store Korean since we have a good mom & pop type Korean Market in town and I love cooking and trying new things. There are English translations on most things, but it would still be good to learn pronunciations and be able to ask more intelligent questions. Any advice on a good resource specific to food terminology?

Hello! I love your vlogs and this has inspired me soooooo much! Question - what is it you write on the side of the color tracker for the month (ex. 12:22). It's in Korean, but what exactly are you logging there?
@SunshineStationery
@SunshineStationery 4 жыл бұрын
Hi! I’m so glad ☺️so the Korean is just the YT channel I watched - usually when I “watch” in Korean, it’s a kdrama so if it’s something else I try to remember to write it down (since future me will have definitely forgotten!)
