Lanny's a living legend! Learned so much from him over the years. Love his laid back attitude and passion.

Brother, I enjoyed every minute of this. If I could choose any living deer hunter to spend some time with, it’d be Lanny without a doubt. Such a great project here.

I have been following the benoits for 40 years. I have all the books and videos. This is pretty special. Not sure everyone appreciates this but this is awesome. Lanny Benoit is second to none when it comes to deer hunting. I really enjoyed this. Thanks for bringing it!

Here it is nearly 3 Am and I am going hunting at 4 am with the muzzleloader, not many days left in our season and honestly I can’t stop watching this interview. It’s really awesome content from a true legend. I live, breath, eat deer hunting and love to still hunt or track when snow andrun em down the issue is trying to get on camera, so like lanny said that’s where sitting helps! Thanks for making this series, Happy Holidays!

Interesting stories. Not enough snow during most of the deer season to track deer here in the South. You would have to be in great shape and have a good sense of direction to do this type of hunting.

Lanny is a great guy. I met him on several occasions a few times at the northeast snowmobile gras drags in the pits when I was helping a friend who raced. The most memorable was the time I went up to his snowmobile shop in VT. to have some engine work done to a friend's sled & we sat & had pizza & beer with Lanny & Landon & was able to hear some stories 1st hand in person. Lanny is a true Legend.

Glad you posted this video, last time I seen him on tape was another tracker stumbled upon him filming his video. I don't know if he even knew he just ran into possibly the greatest tracker of all time! Met him a few times at the Sportsman show in Worcester glad he's doing well and still hunting. Glad you made the video, even his stories are great to listen to. I seen lots of videos read lots of other trackers books I feel he's the Goat for sure!

Wish I grew up having deer hunting like that. Be really cool having him as a mentor. Are young people still hunting or are the numbers way down? I read in northern Michigan the old deer camps are now nearly empty. Can anyone from US buy and over the counter tag in Ontario or do you have to be guided?

Has Lanny ever hunted around the blueberry fields of Washington county? I was sitting in my stand one day , heard something coming from the swamp and it was a couple old fellas from Vermont wearing wool and carrying rem 7600s who had a camp in Deblois since the 50s, about an hour from the Canadian border. they claimed to know and have hunted with the Benoits

I talked to lane at a sportsman show in NH . I used to hunt Washington county from 87-2003 before I bought my camp in central Maine . Mostly around Wesley and Crawford . Lane said no but he always wanted to because he heard that a lot of deer up there were really heavy and had non typical antlers. Lane was gonna Sheetrock my camp and do a spring turkey video then I heard of his passing. Such a missed opportunity. There whole family are legends .

I started hunting in VT when i was 7 and i hated sitting SO MUCH, when i turned 12 my pops let me start going on my own near the Eden Asbestos mines where we lived and that was it once i started tracking them down, th older guys were amazed i would be out there the longest, walk the farthest, and no matter the weather i was in the woods, and i would come back....I saw 13 deer today...I saw 10 deer today, but i was pretty much chasing them off.....LOL....that taught me how to approach them that last little bit when you can smell them, hear them, or catch a glimpse, I loved it so much, im trying to get my boy into it as much as i was, but times are different now, and there is so much to do for kids today, but hes learning and getting in to it, but he absolutely loves to Fish as well....Good Luck with every thing Lanny!

I feel so bad for people who aren't part of the hunting culture - and I'm referring to the REAL hunters, not the slimy outlaws who ride the roads at night. My Dad took me deer hunting for the first time when I was 7 years old. I'd already been squirrel and dove hunting. I'm 56 years old, and hunting has been part of my life ever since. My son is an excellent hunter, and both my daughters enjoy it too. I use Larry's books to inspire me every year. I've read How to Bag the Biggest Buck of Your Life at least 15 times, and it never gets old. It was great to see Lanny carrying on his dad's legacy. In the SE US we can't hunt like the Benoits did, but we can borrow so many of their lessons. Thanks for this great series of interviews!

Love a good deer hunting story. Thanks The one about the wrong cal shell in Lanny rifle reminds me of the time my great uncle Floid picked up a handfull of 30 30 shells in camp by mistake and loaded up his 32 special with them. He shot them all off at a deer that was in the bottom of a big pothole. All hitting way low. Still makes me smile.

I remember George’s buck because he passed me on 93 south in NH with that thing strapped to the roof of his red Cherokee doing about 80. I followed him off the next exit to the gas station to ask him about it. That was a heck of a deer.
