Absolute banger episode! Those previews have been very entertaining so far! One thing I noticed, that Patrick dismisses Teams signing well known (prob bit more expensive) riders after down years. In Hockey its pretty common. Teams signing a rider like Schachmann - good in the past, maybe even been with his new team when he waa good - seems like a 'reclaimation project' to me. They might be cheaper due to lesser performance the past seasons, but teams take a chance, hope they return to their much better form and winning days. And if it doesn't pan out, you still have a good Classics domestique.

I think Soudal-QuickStep is gonna have an good 2025 season, because they have a lot of young rider and some of them will take an step forward (18 guys are still under 25 years old).

I think Remco has a decent chance to take the yellow jersey at the tour TT so I think he has to go there

I think (assuming everyone is in good shape) the TdF team would be something like Remco, Landa, VPP, Van Wilder (climbers) Hayther, Cattaneo (allround and maybe punchy sprints for Hayter?) Van Lerberghe, Merlier (sprint and general non sprint flattish support) As for their transfers: - Hayter for Alaphilippe: pretty much equal climbing and flat support, but Alaphilippe is better descending/positioning. Considering Alaphilippe likely is/was much more expensive, decent change if Hayter goes better (again). - VPP for Hirt: upgrade in climbing support already and more potential. Hirt also was often hit and miss. - Van Gestel for Asgreen: Looking at Asgreens last 3 seasons, I think it is a decent switch, especially considering the money difference. - Schachmann for Masnada: upgrade imo, Masnada had potential but just wasn't there last 2 seasons (I think he suffered from saddle soreness problems?) - Eenkhoorn for Moscon: only real loss for me, don't know how good Eenkhoorn will be and Moscon was great as flat/hill support, Bora likely just offered more considering they could use someone like him to eg. help out more with Roglic safety imo. Overall looking at names a downgrade, but looking at results and potential of last seasons (especially compared to cost), I'd say a slight upgrade.

@@MDP1702 I think Van Wilder is going for his own at the Giro and therefore misses the Tour de France. Also Hayters lack of positioning makes him an less attractive option for me for the Tour de France. The first 10 days are gonna be hectic and hes not an guy which I want in an hectic Peloton. Rest of the TdF Team makes a lot of sense.

@@MDP1702 The difference between Hayter and Alaphillippe is in my eyes, that Alaphillippe is just capable of having his own results on high level races while Hayter get his on lower level races (if he even does that) . But obviously hes way cheaper. Agree about Van Gerstel and Schachmann. I think Schachmann will be and good rider. Eenkhoorn should be solid but Moscon is more valuable to Bora than to Quick-Step.

@@MDP1702 Overall I think they are cheaper and similar strong (climbing upgrade with VPP - classic/hilly stage downgrade with the loss of Alaphillippe).

@@adrianbuck8772 If Van Wilder goes to the Giro, I guess you could just add in Lecerf instead. As for Hayther, I don't really care about his positioning for the TdF, I'd see him more in support by going into breaks or in de middle of mountain stages/later in the TdF. I'd more look at Cattaneo to keep him safe in those first stages, maybe also with Merlier and Van Lerberghe in the non-flat finish sprint stages. Also if they follow the same tactic as last year (ie. keeping Remco safe in the back), Hayther can be fine for that too. Gilders could be better in terms of positioning, but Hayther can be better in general support imo and I do think he can be better than Vervaeke in general. Haythers only real problem imo is positioning, fix that somewhat and he is a very solid TdF domestique. I'd agree with you on Alaphilippe vs Hayther in the past, however Alaphilippe has been terribly inconsistent in delivering own results in the last 2-3 seasons, though he was again getting a bit better in the 2nd part of this season. Hayther also still potentially has some room to grow (depending on how well he was supported/pushed at Ineos), while Alaphilippe already seems well over his peak. It is a gamble, but if successfull potentially better than keeping Alaphilippe results wise and definitely quality/buck wise.

Does that even make sense in an Era with guys like Pogacar, Van Der Poel, Van Art, Pedersen and Remco? They have guys for flat or slightly hilly Parcours and will probably double down on them but thats it in my eyes (Merlier, Magnier, Lamperti).
