I like Remco and all, but I think Pogi could comfortably beat him on one leg in any competition. Jonas is likely not going to be in full form come TdF, so Pogi seems to be the only candidate to win, even if he's not fully recovered (which I highly doubt) from the Giro. I'm really hoping that Jonas can surprise us to keep things interesting, otherwise, it's a fight for 2nd place at the TdF. The Vuelta seems like a harder feat for Pogi, in comparison, as Jonas could actually be in full form by then.

Agree with LR. Win the tour you have to go for it! (Vuelta).Think about the legacy he would leave.
@epincion21 сағат бұрын
Yes he can win every GT this year but even he knows that its meaningless this year since that crash in the Tour of Basque took out almost all the Galactico level of climber that are his peers and this year’s Giro showed that it was a cake walk for him with no serious opposition. Jonas’s injuries are major and worse than the gullible press desperate for copy is willing to accept. The fact is this year’s TDF is a wash at Galactico level. VSL should end the charade and send a strong experimental team to the TDF but no Jonas, and no WVA. Give it to Pog as a processional win. If he is sensible Pog wont go either. Winning would be meaningless to him. The real question is why was that crash in Tour of Basque allowed to happen?
@charlestoddsullivanforpres662822 сағат бұрын
My prediction is that Jonas realizes he's not in shape and healed and skips the Tour and goes to La Vuelta, Pogacar wins TDF and also goes to La Vuelta to try to win all three, and Jonas wins.
@zzhughesd18 сағат бұрын
Hate to agree. I agree. Jonus at TDF fresh to win vs Pog. Nope.

Almeida is in the Tour team to ride 200m behind the GC group on the climbs. In case Pogi punctures, he can take Almeida's bike, the other GC contenders, should they puncture, have to wait for their team car which can´t be right behind the GC group, because of blocking Almeida ;)
@Jaxck7721 сағат бұрын
That is a gross strategy hahaha
@tomschenk514820 сағат бұрын
Leaving a lone rider in the wind in hopes that someone punctures? If Almeida is strong enough to do that on every climb, why not just put him off the front for the gc? I mean, he would be working harder than any other rider on every climb every day.

No way, the doping protocol of Jonas is still above the one of Pogi boy. His team is close but not yet there.

This year Jonas can't counter Pogacar even if he's 100%! After Javier Sola replaced Inigo San Millan as a coach Pogacar was out of this world. No way anyone can rival Pog this year. Remco on WC maybe but it's a stretch.

I think you're possibly underrating Roglic at the tour, he could genuinely be up with Jonas challenging Pogi (depending on how well he recovers after this Giro). I know he was nowhere at Paris Nice but he looked good at Basque Country before the crashes, beating all the other contenders in the TT despite going the wrong way. Also of the main contenders it looks like he was least affected by that big crash and has probably had the best prep since then. If he can stay on his bike for the full three weeks I think he really has a chance

Whenever they’re talking about Belgian and French stuff, Benji needs to translate everything - consciously or unconsciously. He gets his information from the best sources available to him and they’re not in English. (Auto-translation only works partially still, and not very well at all for spoken stuff, especially with the rural speech many of the Belgian and Dutch riders have, so there’s really no substitute for this.) On top of this, he’s now lived in the UK, with English as his main home and community language, for long enough that this whole process is likely messier than when he lived in Belgium still. Not yet easier. These things take time. Plus, he probably uses the very common media strategy of just filling in words while figuring out how to say what he actually wanted to say. It’s what happens everywhere you have commentators and analysts. Not saying it’s the best strategy, just that it wouldn’t be strange if Benji is using it too.

Campenaerts is an absolute beast. If I am putting together a team where I need to have strong riders that I can count on to do whatever is needed for the team, chasing down a break, bringing my rider back, etc. Campenaerts is the guy I am signing every time. I think that the key for Campenaerts is to put him in the right mix of a team where his role is well-defined and plays to his strengths.

There are only 70 Start spots available at the mens race i think. The Olympics spots available are smaller at most sports compare to an world championship in the same Sport. Handball and football (soccer for Americans) roster size and Teams Qualifying are down aswell compare to world championships. Thats just the reality of having a lot of different sports at the same place at the same time.

Not sure f he has used the best doping there is. According to another channel his doping abuse caused water retention in his legs, leading to leg pains and possibly even why he had the bizarre TT crash a few years back. Minotropin the drug he used is a drug to get women fertile, maybe he thought just put any drug that is not on the banned list into the body, and you will fly on the bike ?

"The UCI will not comment further on the matter". Unless/Until it does. The UCI is like a lone dictator. One day the wind blows with its own rules and the next day against it. The UCI makes statements and then contradicts itself all the time. Like not applying its own rules at an Olympic Keirin final or approving new stuff and then saying they do not. Anything that comes out of the UCI I take with a lot of salt, which tastes horrible.
