That kitchen stove will also save firewood. I wish Phils place is closer to mine I would go and see how they build the kitche stove, and build one in my compound. Here we have claybricks they are very strong as they are put on fire for 4 to 7 days before they are ready. May God add more years of life to Laoli, as he is kind hearted.

Just watched a video about Tanzanian disabled children being trafficked into Kenya to work on the streets begging for money for their captors. They get nothing and it is heartbreaking. Nice job! Cooking meats and soups...like the one Felista cooked the other night will be quick and easy in a wok on this new stove. If you place a table and chair for the cook to sit and prepare food on near the stove, that would be great. Also, place a tent/canopy overhead to shield them from the sun and rain.

Sur, I was also thinking about it that when it rains they will be unable to cook with the stove. A word of thought, can the family of Phil's plant many trees around the compound and on open space so that they don't go far to look for firewood and also to preserve the environment and control the dust and wind. Food cooked with firewood is tastier than gas and electric. Be blessed all of you!

​@Doxalubayou find them happy with their simple life please let them be, Tanzania got many houses with connected natural gas supply leave alone firewood stove, they know all that include this thing you people think it's a new innovation to them but still they opted to stick with their charcoal stoves, please let them be, there's nothing foreign on that firewood stove to them though I can't downgrade Lao Lis idea because I will be not different from your myopic entitlements

The family knew he was trying to help and so I am sure that they are very grateful. The stove probably won’t be used that often though. Wood is not so easy to get in that region and is probably expensive. There are trees around, but it would not be a good idea to cut them down just to make a meal. The stove will have to be adjusted to accommodate propane for it to be practical. Also, it is away from the main cooking area, which is also a gathering area for the family. They also now have to build a new shower area for the family. It is great that Lau Li is helping, but people should not just assume that the traditional setup that this family had was bad. It was perfect for their family dynamic and for the goods that they have available. The blending of two cultures does not mean that the original way way was inferior.
