Ironically, if you suspect methanol poisoning, give them alcohol (ethanol). It binds with the methanol and makes it harmless.

@@EddieSmith917 My apologies Eddie.. I was only aware of Fomepizole being the antidote.. "...Yes, ethanol can help treat methanol poisoning if administered quickly: How it works Ethanol is metabolized in the liver before methanol, which delays the onset of methanol poisoning and gives the body more time to process it. Ethanol binds to the alcohol dehydrogenase enzyme in the liver more effectively than methanol, blocking methanol from binding. When to use it Ethanol can be used to treat methanol poisoning if fomepizole is unavailable. Other treatments Other treatments for methanol poisoning include: Sodium bicarbonate to neutralize formic acid and maintain pH balance Hemodialysis or hemodiafiltration to remove methanol and formate from the blood Folinic acid or folic acid to enhance the metabolism of formate.."

Methanol or any other drugs drink spikes crimes has been happening in North Asia, Europe, South America or other western countries to many foreign tourists or their local clubbers too. The families must sue the Dept of Foreign Affairs for failing to provide up to date travel advice. Asia has the highest prevalence of methanol poisoning in the world. Why didnt the Australian Government warn them? At the end of the day Albo is responsible for what happened. Albo needs to pay for this.

People are responsible for the decisions that they make for themselves (nothing to do with the murder of these young Australian women). Stop looking to the government to regulate what we can or cannot do.

@@BigGen222 Dude - even libertarian USA tries to protect its citizens through travel advice and warnings. Of all nations on earth surely Australia should have been warning Aussie citizens of methanol poisoning risks while travelling in Asia - this is certainly nothing new. Odds are this was just an accident - its often the case in these poor Asian nations that the traditional brewing processes used generate toxic levels of methanol. This is no secret so there is no excuse for Albo failing to warn young Aussies who are likely to consume alcohol in these Asian nations while travelling. I just cannot believe that Albo had the audacity to comment on this. Guilty conscience I guess. What an incompetent scumbag. He cant anything right and now Australian are dead. This makes my blood boil.
@davegoldspink535419 сағат бұрын
As much as we like blaming government (especially when it’s our current shit show government) for things, people SHOULD be responsible for their own actions and as far as foreign affairs goes Benny Wong and co are so incompetent I wouldn’t trust them running a lemonade stand let alone something as important as travelling Aussies’ safety overseas.
