It's a beautiful looking lens, thanks for the review! This is the macro ciné lens I'd go for for sure. I shoot a lot of anamorphic with 2x diopters which presents similar challenges, and I've found part of the key to shooting this way is having lots of light so you can stop down. At maximum aperture on a long lens, the depth of field is so crazily shallow that with moving subjects it's nigh on impossible to keep anything consistently in focus. I find even at T8, depth of field can still be surprisingly shallow on full frame. Sliders can also help as you can track the camera back and forwards easily to get the subject in perfect focus without any wobble when you're at minimum focus distance. As you say, it isn't easy...!

The auto-manual bug. Back in the 60's, my Dad bought one that he would let me drive for experience. His joke on me, sitting in the passenger seat, was to extend his knee, bumping the stick, disengaging the gear and jerking my driving badly. I being young and stupid, paid him back by driving close to the right side of the lane, coming very close to the parked cars on that side. Thanks Allan for triggering that memory.

Those ants look particularly bitey. Any idea what species? Informative video, as usual. I’m not making macro videos yet, but this is good food for thought. Thanks.
