I love it that your favourite focal lenght is a 35mm and Chris just tells almost every single video on DPReview how he hates the 35. I know it's maybe something I only find funny but I just needed to post this. By the way great video as always :)

I have a lovely 35 in there and it’s fine, it works, but I think I get where Chris is coming from. It just seems to be a nothing focal length, that’s both too tight and too wide. The level of hate that Chris has for it though is *chef’s kiss*

With the mirrorless revolution Chinese companies like Laowa, Mitakon, TTArtisan offer f/0.95 full frame lenses at really affordable prices around 1000$ but with unavoidable optical issues at corners with f/0.95. A full frame lens with decent optical performance at f/0.95 can't be affordable and will never be. That's why the quite recent full frame Leica m-mount Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH costs around 12.000$ and the full frame Nikon NIKKOR Z 58mm f/0.95 S Noct costs around 8.000$. Nevertheless with portrait photography the corners are usually out of focus and a very sharp lens reveals everything and is not very flattering with faces.

Great review. I love the wide aperture. But $1200 for a soft manual focus lens? Nevertheless, I think it would be good to photograph family and friends in an indoor setting using this lens with no flash.

If you want character then I'd recommend buying vintage lenses. Much cheaper with distinctive results.

I suggest you give up on the overweight oversize Laowa 35/.95 and try the 7 Artisans 35mm f/0.95.
