Laowa Ranger Zooms - The BEST Budget Zooms?

I know they aren't exactly in the same price range, but I'm very curious about how a budget cine zoom like the Rangers compares/stacks up against the Angenieux EZ's? How much better are the EZ's...are they better? Thanks!

As a rental house, we love it when you rent the more expensive stuff, but lenses like these are very very very good. The EZ set does a lot well and they have their own look, but honestly it would come down to a visual preference as these are on a very level playing field. The nice thing about the EZ set is the rear optics are swappable if you want to run S35 backs then you get T2.0

@@NorthwestCameraCo Thanks for your response. It's interesting to hear that they are on a level playing field! Amazing how the cine landscape is shifting with so many more/new players making gear. I guess the only way to know which is "better" is to rent them and see for myself...too bad I don't live in a market with a rental house like yours. I’m debating using this on a BMPCC 6K G2 (S35), curious how you think this would be for that use, would it give a wide enough focal range for general application, or do you think the upcoming 16-30 would be necessary for more establishing wider shots. I haven’t seen much S35 footage with these so hoping for your opinion?

Totally depends on the locations of your shoot and needs from your shot list. 28 might be a little tight on s35 on practical interiors. It’s really a maybe. Could definitely use a lot, might just be tough for a wide establishing type shot.
