It’s funny, the LAPD appears to have gotten rid of most of their box Chevys and Vics post ‘96, yet in 2022 they’re still hanging on to their 2011 Vics.

Nice to see them still using 1987-90 Chevy Caprice _9C1_ units and 1991 Ford LTD Crown Victorias alongside newer 1991+ Caprices even in the mid-90s. I was a kid in the area at the time but too young to remember any of it vividly.

oh yes, they had the 1986 caprices until 1994, and the 1988 and 1989 caprices until 1995 meaning this was one of the last ones, the 1990 and 1990 LTD Crown Victorias were used until 2000, and the 91-96 caprices were used until around 2002, of course the 1995-1997 crown victoria's were in use until 2019 so yeah they keep this stuff forever

Wow LAPD history. 07:07. My uncle through marriage, Al Preciado, one of the original LAPD SWAT team members. He was the SWAT officer who was at the bottom of the stone stairs that was lobbing tear gas and returning fire into the SLA house shootout (South LA) in the early 70s.. He was in the middle of the crossfire. I'm sure there are videos of Uncle Al at the stairs.

He is the SWAT Officer who was at the bottom of the rock steps at the SLA firefight E 54th street (1974). Uncle Al was there during the whole gunbattle. He lobbed tear gas into the house and was pinned down for two hours. The house burned to the ground. Uncle Art also participated in the raid on Black Panther HQ in LA in 1969, the first SWAT action in US History. He was wounded (minor) during that raid.

Goodness. Supervisor showed up in a brand new crown vic.... when I first started in my department, I was issued the oldest car we had which was a 2011 crown vic. Hard to believe at one point those were the cars supervisors got first.

Pay attention to how she masterfully explained why it was the citizens fault she crashed and not her's... There was no car in front of her confused on what to do, she didn't have to avoid anybody... She lost control because she changed her mind at the last minute and over cut the wheel, and she was going way to fast for it and lost control... This is why cops started to believe they could do no wrong.. she truly believes herself.

Wasn't idiotic. Even with the outside positions having stationary PAR bulbs, placing alley lights internally on the Aerodynic, would take away colored side warning. Those model of externals were also brighter than the PAR 36 offered as alley lights on the Aerodynic.

I remember watching one of the last episodes and they showed a dead body. Some guy who was gunned down at a cul de sac and it was pretty weird to see that. Not sure if they eventually were canceled after that but shortly after the show was off Channel 13 out in LA.

The problem wasn't the traffic seeing a black and white with sirens and panicking, the problem was she wasn't able to keep her cool, lost control because she was driving like she was drunk and panicking, and avoided air in favour of hitting a pole.
