Damm you r a lifesaver… I just bought my MacBook, set up the password and 15 minutes later tried to login and somehow it’s not accepting my password, tried everything and on top of it, no forget password option was displaying. Life Saver!!!!!!!! Gave my Mom a Macbook Pro Air, asked her for a password, she wrote it down and proceeded to misplace it. Took it to a shop, they wanted $200. Glad I found you on KZbin

You’re an absolute life saver, my fiancé was typing in the correct password but for whatever reason it was saying it was incorrect. After many failed attempts from other videos this one hit the nail on the head and after following this simple guide we managed to reset her password and log back in! THIS VIDEO WORKS!! Saved me money and time thank you!! Newer Mac’s hold down finger authentication button (don’t need “command+R”), prompts you into recovery mode, 4 options come up ignore this. Top left find “utilities”, click “terminal”, a small coding box pops up, **make sure you’re connect to WiFi. Once connected, use coding box and type “resetpassword” hit enter, had to click “deactivate Mac”, then allowed me to click on my account id, and reset new password and hint 🎉 all my stuff still intact!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Thanks, great clip. Only feedback is to consider another video where the laptop asks for a Recovery Key and you don't have it.
