Why are some of the rough stones kept in water ??
@lapidarydave4 жыл бұрын
Annie Peacock Hello there thank you so much for watching and for commenting they keep the stones in water because they are rough and when they are roughly will look dry and lose a lot of color when they put it in water it simulates the color you will get when they are polished I like when they use the water over having a spray bottle next to it because it’s a little less work and anything is better than when they caught the stones in petroleum which is a very common thing especially in Asia and Brazilian crystals it’s almost misleading because if you don’t know they are coded you won’t be able to see all the dings cracks and rough spots :)

Hi Dave! Just discovered you because I was looking to learn how to cut a glass vase for a Christmas present I was making...I also make jewelry from beads, bead weaving, wire, paper clay etc. and have been looking at videos learning to drill and polish beads, stones, resin, etc....but my room mate put a bug in my ear recently by telling me about Pratt Daddy and their crystals...are you familiar with them? I think they have a nice set up but wonder how much they really sell as their stuff seems very marked up in price!!!...their style is drilled through the top...whereas I have been learning wire wrapping and bail making...but I see that a lot of people are also teaching how to drill straight through the gems/stones...What would you suggest to start learning with or on? I can't see myself cutting out the pieces yet as I don't have any saws yet or polishing as I need the sanding machine...it's all kind of overwhelming but also fun and exciting...I guess maybe buying some stones that are cut and polished and I can drill them or wire wrap or make or put bails on...do you have any favorite sellers? Btw...You have a very nice easy going personality and you make your videos fun and interesting to watch...
@lapidarydave4 жыл бұрын
Karen A. Buckley Thank you so much for watching I really appreciate it when it comes to my favorite sellers most of them are Mexican Chinese an east Indian from out of the country but I also do some reselling material on cabs myself if you ever have a need anything in particular feel free to ask when it comes to Pratt daddy I totally think that they are overpriced in a bit of a novelty The prices that they are charging for those even though they are handmade are quite ridiculous And the quality is very elementary so much so I reached out to them about 2 1/2 years ago offering to be there lapidary and which they can make more money and have a much nicer product it’s super funny that you asked that question because I try to work for them a couple years ago when it comes to drilling I have several drilling videos on my KZbin channel feel free to check them out on my personal favorite two drilling methods one is using a tool color water swivel and the other one is using very cheap diamond bits and a rotary tool I suggest starting by drilling straight through the stone and then working your way to drilling through the sides thank you so much for watching my friend I really appreciate it please consider Subscribe if you haven’t done so already really helps the channel
@karena.buckley11904 жыл бұрын
@@lapidarydave hey Dave! Thanks so much for replying!!! Well a good point as far as Pratt Daddy is that they may have created some more publicity for the whole. Crystal and lapidary field... I think people probably buy their stuff who were fans of them and their show...And that us very cool that you offered to help with their business...and not knowing much about the field...I can still see that their prices are ridiculous...My room mate said someone should start another web site with a similar name like "Macdaddy" and sell crystals and crystal jewlery to take advantage of possible Search Engine Traffic that would pull up your site if people are looking for Pratt Daddy...food for thought!!! And I am pretty sure I have seen those videos of yours that you mentioned about drilling.. which I have no experience and am learning...but i will go back and rewatch and relook of course...I just started to watch some of your Gem Show videos too...I will definitely keep in touch and contact you when am ready to get some gems to make into jewelry! Uncle Fester The Manifester I sit serene, With my Citrine, While manifesting, I beam my dream, To make it seem, As if it’s already happening. With Uncle Fester, The Master Fenster Scepter, Which is the mad master Manifesting crystal. To keep your route elated more use Rutilated Quartz, To keep on a path of light keep Apophyllite nearby, Dumotierite will do more to you right, Holler at me with your Hollandite!
