Will wood is legiterally a lyrical genius. It’s whether you’re singing “Ooh Could you take a look at me? Am I bad, am I bad, am I bad, am I really that bad? Now we're singing Ooh, Whatever you think of me, If you were in my shoes, You'd walk the same damn miles I do.” or “It’s the norm for animals, it’s the norm for chemicals. It’s the norm for particles, eye for eye for tooth. It’s the norm for chemicals, it’s the norm for particles. Yes it’s only natural.” absolutely Intelligent. I have a character that’s been through absolute hell and lost his mind in the process, he turned out to be a villain and did multiple horrible things, but they all had a reason, it was never out of spite, never out of pure revenge, all of the things he’s ever done were to help himself or help others, and then, he started to regain his sanity a little bit, apologized for his actions and decided to kinda live in the shadow, isolate himself as a punishment. Some people didn’t think it was enough and so one of them decided to start torturing him mentally and physically every night for 15 years without anyone else knowing. Even then, after this person was stopped and everyone learned about the torture that the villain endured, they still viewed him as terrible and treated him like shit, never forgiving him for his previous actions. Now, an important detail would be that a lot of the characters that have been pushing him away and treating him like a monster have done worst at some point in their lives, and they were all forgiven although they didn’t face any sort of punishment. Gabriel (the villain) thinks it’s extremely unfair judgment but accepted his punishment nonetheless, but now, now that people are still treating him like he’s the worst person they’ve ever laid eyes on, he’s starting to lose his mind again a little, hence why I think this song is really fitting for him. The ‘’Am I really that bad?’’ getting more and more violent and desperate as the song progresses sounds like him genuinely asking if he’s bad when other people are worst and won’t acknowledge it, because, at least, he acknowledges HIS mistakes, he took the responsibility to distance himself, to punish himself, has never complained about his punishments, while others won’t even admit that they’re bad people. The ‘’if you were in my shoes, you’d walk the same damn miles I do’’ is basically because all of the shit he went through kind of made him do all of the stuff he’s done, he wouldn’t have turned out that way otherwise, and he’s always had reasons to be terrible, kinda like his path was written and how he react would be anyone’s reaction. Sounds like he’s saying that anybody else would’ve turned out crazy and done the shit he’s done if they had lived the shit he’s lived. I like how this song progressively gets more agressive because, at first, it sounds like he’s just trying to give excuses, it sounds like he’s trying to explain himself, but, as the song progresses, it sounds more and more like he’s realizing that he’s in the right, it sounds like he’s blaming others for their terrible behaviour towards him, sounds like he’s finally snapping.

I always saw this song as chastising humanity for trying to plug the holes in our morality and animalistic nature with science, morality and psychology, and how despite all our tidy categories and study, we can never really put down the fact that we’re animals that act rashly “neatly fold your skeletons you still can’t shut the closet door”

Sei mai morto in un incubo Have you ever died in a nightmare Mi sono svegliato sorpreso che non ti fossi guadagnato il tuo destino Woke up surprised you hadn't earned your fate Ti sei mai sentito come Atlas, hai buttato le spalle all'asse e Have you ever felt like Atlas, threw your back out on the axis, and È crollato e ha buttato via il pianeta Collapsed and threw the planet away Tutti sono solo sangue in una vaschetta del ghiaccio Everyone's just blood in an ice tray Un vampiro che raccoglie fiori al sole A vampire picking flowers out in the sun Esegui i tuoi test diagnostici, è presupposto che nessuno muoia agnostico Run your diagnostic tests, it's posited nobody dies agnostic Ma continuiamo a comporre il 9-1-1 But we still dial 9-1-1 E ora stiamo cantando And now we're singing Ooh Ooh Potresti darmi un'occhiata Could you take a look at me Sono cattivo, sono cattivo, sono cattivo, sono davvero così cattivo? Am I bad, am I bad, am I bad, am I really that bad? Ora stiamo cantando Now we're singing Ooh Ooh Qualunque cosa tu pensi di me Whatever you think of me Se tu fossi nei miei panni If you were in my shoes Cammineresti per le stesse dannata miglia che faccio io You'd walk the same damn miles I do Ora ci stiamo solo sintonizzando sul tono della curva a campana We're only tuning to the tone of the bell curve now Non chiedere per chi suona Ask not for whom it tolls Ma con la testa tra le nuvole posso vedere così tanto terreno But with my head up in the clouds I can see so much ground E da quassù sembri delle formiche in fila And from up here you look like ants in a row Non ci vuole un assassino per uccidere It doesn't take a killer to murder Ci vuole solo una ragione per uccidere It only takes a reason to kill Abbiamo tutti la prova dell'innocenza, è 'tutto è una coincidenza' il We've all got evidence of innocence, it's 'everything's coincidence' the La differenza tra destino e libero arbitrio è se stai cantando Difference twixt fate and free will is whether you're singing Ooh Ooh Potresti darmi un'occhiata Could you take a look at me Sono cattivo, sono cattivo, sono cattivo, sono davvero così cattivo? Am I bad, am I bad, am I bad, am I really that bad? Ora stiamo cantando Now we're singing Ooh Ooh Qualunque cosa tu pensi di me Whatever you think of me Se tu fossi nei miei panni If you were in my shoes Cammineresti per le stesse dannata miglia che faccio io You'd walk the same damn miles I do Oh, oh Oh-oh Giusto Right Quindi se ti lavi le mani da dove sei stato fino a quando non inondi il secondo piano So if you wash your hands of where you've been until you flood the second floor Piega ordinatamente i tuoi scheletri ma non riesci ancora a chiudere la porta dell'armadio Neatly fold your skeletons but still can't shut the closet door Gli unici che hanno bisogno di amore sono quelli che non ricevono abbastanza The only ones in need of love are those who don't receive enough Quindi i malvagi dovrebbero ottenere un po' di più So evil ones should get a little more Voi You Potresti darmi un'occhiata Could you take a look at me Sono cattivo, sono cattivo, sono cattivo, sono davvero così cattivo Am I bad, am I bad, am I bad, am I really that bad E ora stiamo cantando And now we're singing Ooh Ooh Qualunque cosa tu pensi di me; Whatever you think of me; se la scarpa si adatta, faresti quel miglio if the shoe fits would you walk that mile Potresti metterlo sull'altro piede, è della stessa misura You could put it on the other foot, it's the same size Voi You Potresti darmi un'occhiata Could you take a look at me Sono cattivo, sono cattivo, sono cattivo, sono davvero così cattivo Am I bad, am I bad, am I bad, am I really that bad Stiamo cantando We're singing Qualunque cosa tu pensi di me Whatever you think of me Se tu fossi nei miei panni If you were in my shoes Vedresti che indosso la tua stessa taglia You'd see I wear the same size as you

Its talking shit about determinism. Everything the poster above said but also quantum physics pretty soundly disproved determinism with the whole shrodingers cat thing. "It's the norm for particles:

@_NobodySpecial_2 жыл бұрын
@@JasmineNorman2007 basically you can't predict shit because things act differently when you look at them so just by observing you change the course of reality. Determinism is the belief that everything that is going to happen is already locked in because we can predict how everything will happen.

If all I am is an animal driven by the impulses of electrochemical stimulus in my brain then my faults are no more my fault than anyone else's. I am saved by my lack of free will in this way, my sins are absolved for how am I to blame for God's grand design. The angel of determinism
@PhoenixProdLLC Жыл бұрын
actually, no current and credible Physics data to date can say with certainty that determinism is fully true...that would be huge news. It isn't. Besides, what about qualia? What people think of themselves often adds value to their lives. You don't have the right to tell them who they ARE.
@_NobodySpecial_ Жыл бұрын
@@PhoenixProdLLC the only disproving of determinism that quantum mechanics has found is that when trying to observe particles small enough photons have to hit them thus changing their behavior. The core idea of Laplaces demon is based on a supposition that suitably intelligent being able to observe everything and predict everything. The only thing that's changed is it must also be able to observe without interacting with small enough particles. Plus string theory and quantum mechanics are incomplete theories anyways, they hardly account for gravity and having 95% of the universe being "dark" ie "we don't know what it is" they've hardly disproven determinism. But either way the song is about determinism and Laplace so the point still stands
