As many other have said, you are a real life saver! My Diff. Equations professor has been doing a very poor job of teaching us this material. After watching your videos, I feel like I know the material well enough to at least make a passing grade on the exam that will cover this.

I can see how Laplace would have realized that e^-st would bound most functions with unity at 0 and 0 at infinity. However, I don't see intuitively how he realized that there would be no loss of information from the original functions to their transforms. How did he know an anti-transform would be available across such a large class of functions?

5:40 is a (-) or a (+). In case of a (-), why is that, you are replacing in that ecuation.. and you wrote (+). Then you took it like a (-).

So the Laplace transform converts a function of `t` into an expression with constants? (What is `s` in these expressions, BTW?) So basically, it established a MAP between functions and numbers?
@suigetsuhozuki1
@suigetsuhozuki1 6 жыл бұрын
No, s is just another variable. So, basically, Laplace transform converts a function of 't' to some new function which depends of 's'. In physics and engineering t represents time, and s represents frequency. Hope this helps.

so you just had them mixed up. He says f'(t)=cos(at), and then f(t)=(1/a)sin(at). he took the antiderivative, not the derivative.
