Why do antis even exist? Vtubers don't really do much, so them getting hate doesn't make sense. Could someone explain?
@theomiller623
@theomiller623 Жыл бұрын
@@psachy there's not really any exact reason why antis exist. it could be jealousy, it could be that the vtuber in question said or does something that hurt their feelings, it could be people who have shitty lives and likes to harrass/bully other people to make themselves feel better or it could be just someone have nothing to do in their lives
@DeatGaming
@DeatGaming Жыл бұрын
@@psachy Anti's aren't just a Vtuber problem so I would say jealousy. Look at most of the big content creators to even traditional media(TV/Movies/Radio) and there will be antis. People who in my experience follow the activities of content creators to post hate or worse. Bringing this problem to light and starting to get companies like Google/Amazon, the owners of KZbin and Twitch respectfully on board might help fight it. Of course if people took their mental health more seriously it would help a lot too.

If someone wants to sound strong to others, they would do anything it takes to make themselves heard, even if they have to pay through the nose for it. Sadly, the thing about VTubers, many could view them as "weak", because they see that avatar as more or less a "facade" for those who are afraid of showing their real selves to the world. As silly as it sounds, most celebrities have a real face and aren't afraid to show it in public regardless of the attention they get. If you've been in the rabbit hole for long enough, you would know that most VTubers are true introverts; those like Pekora, Aqua, and Gura to name a few in the case of Hololive. With that being said, humans are still animals, and an animal's primary instinct is to stay above. If it means pushing others down to get above -- using whatever "strength" they have (i.e. tools, information, *money* ) to prey on those potentially weaker than them -- they will do so in the harshest possible way. In this case, exploiting any vulnerability on a VTuber to control their feelings. Unfortunately, such a thing worked on Laplus, as she was led into hiatus (though fortunately came back from it). And to a degree worse than that, Uruha Rushia and Lulu Suzuhara. The best we can do is to give our strength to make our idols stronger than them.

this makes me so glad Niji and Holo worked something out so they could go after harrassers like that legally. It's just unfortunate that other vtubers and live streamers in general still don't have that, but it's a start, and maybe it can become something bigger over time. And it also is unfortunate that it comes too late for Coco and Aloe. I guess their cases have been among the main reasons why Hololive was looking for a way to deal with comments that frankly go beyond being "just" hateful.

@Ralnir

I feel like this and that are a bit too different to say it's too late for Coco. For Aloe and this most recent one, it's more an issue of Japan's particular problems with idol culture and it being a bigass swamp of toxic/parasocial behavior. To which anycolor and cover can presumably take legal action against. Coco's situation, though, would have required reaching into China and that would have gotten absolutely zero traction.

Because there are people out there who once held dreams and ambitions, but failed to reach them. So rather then accepting that what they chased after wasn’t for them or moving on in life, they give into despair and misery. These people end up hating those who succeed in reaching their dreams because they themselves failed. They want to bring them down, to crush them under their hate and misery. Misery, after all, enjoys company. Hell, I never reached what I dreamed of being, but I don’t see it as a reason to drag others down. I always look at the people of Hololive, Holostars and Nijisanji and cheer them on to keep going. Just because I gave up my dream doesn’t mean I can’t pray that they succeed.

Man, it's really sad to see her going through this shit. I know this situation is really common if one person becomes popular but not everyone has enough mentality to ignore the antis and death threats. Fortunately, she is with Hololive, who many times proves that they will be the first one to protect their talents. I still remember Kronii's drama with HoloStars; when Kronii was in trouble, the company immediately posted an announcement that they would support which ever choice Kronii took. With Laplus, they joint with Nijisanji to take legal actions against the antis. Thus, I think Laplus will overcome this situation sooner or later, as long as she remembers that there are a lot of people on her sides and support her.

It is so so so good that the companies are making an effort to protect their talent. But I think part of that responsibility is also on us as a community. This kind of thing has happened a few times to different livers over the past few years, and it breaks my heart every time. Not only because the person themself is suffering, but because we as a community have let them down. As much as there will always be that loud minority that harass and hate on the livers (whether its from delusional 'love' or genuine hate or trolling). It doesn't mean that we can't help to shut that shit down. I'm not saying we should be gatekeeping, or any kind of overly aggressive action, they have people for that on the professional level; We don't want to make things worse. But I do think that we can do our part to help keep our community(s) safer and more positive, both for the livers and us as the viewers.

All these talents are incredibly strong, but please don't say you'll end up quitting streaming forever. I would guess most antis want that, so I'd rather you take the utmost legal action against them within Japanese law without quitting streaming. Do the completely opposite and remain strong and stream while pursuing legal vengeance.

This is sad part whenever a talent goes on break or hiatus, some people assume the worst and blatantly slander them for unjustified reasons. It's a minority but sadly very vocal. I don't consider these fans but very dedicated antis if they have so much free time to hate on creators they dislike. I'm glad Laplus has the option to take legal against these people if she ever feels it's too much.

I'm really proud of Laplus for coming back after dealing with that kind of horrible feeling. Some tiny percentage of haters on the internet will always lash out for whatever (meaningless) reasons. I think it's amazing what Hololive and Nijisanji are trying to do to protect their personalities, and I hope it will cut down on the people being jerks, but in the end they will have to be able to ignore the 0.0001% of haters and just focus on the overwhelming majority's support. It isn't easy, for sure.

One of the hardest thing that you have to deal with when you're a public figure is negativity and harsh comments. You're reaching out to so many people, it's inevitable. You'll eventually reach some that have ill intent and act like that for personal reasons. Not everyone can deal with this. I find it commendable that hololive and nijisanji are starting to take actions to protect their talents.

According to a few posts I've seen from channels doing voice-overs of 4chan posts (I'm not insane enough to go there myself yet), it seems like at least a few of them were concerned about that joint statement. If anything, it seems the dissuasive effect is somewhat working. Now we only need the few reckless enough to try their luck anyway to be made public examples and it might just be enough to make the remainder move onto something easier to hate.

With the harassment getting to the point of ending careers, people online need to be held more accountable. I'm NGL, with how little privacy there is online *ANYWAY* I really don't give a crap anymore. Come to Holo EN! Laplus & Ina could make a great pair and don't worry about actually speaking it, Korone is an honorary Holo EN member so speaking correctly isn't a requirement. We would just be happy to have ya join us! This sort of thing is still a problem in the U.S for sure, but theres been a lot more done to prevent this kind of toxicity than what Japan has been doing. This story really shows how every country finds their own way to be the best at being awful. At least our cool international neighbors make living with the local idiots in our respective countries a little easier to endure. Bummer story, but I am glad to see she's back. The only way to fight cowards is to be brave, so seeing her & the company not back down... It's a good reminder that bad actors "win" when they're able to get the good players to quit playing. "Try that again, we'll take action" is a great message 👍 Attacking others is a poor way to defend yourself but failure to retaliate against those that attack you encourages them to attack even more without fear of consequences. Sometimes ignoring jerks isn't enough, sometimes you gotta flex some legal muscle and remind the misanthropes that think that money is the only currency that matters when social value is infinitely more important. I mean, the concept of charity exists as proof that even the rich who can buy everything want to buy the one thing they often lack positive perceived social value. Just because we live in a transactional economy doesn't mean your transactions are protected speech. The internet isn't a consequence free environment, that message needs to be driven into people's heads with a judge's gavel.
