Very honest sermon. I’m new to the Latin mass with a young child of mine (not due to contraceptives, praise be to God). Most TLM parents lake charity and poor example for example veil up for mass but dress immodestly outside of church, fathers tyrannical as in not disciplining for important matters but picking every possible battle with children making them frustrated, homeschooling but not teaching children of different worldviews so they are prepared when they leave home, producing babies without properly catechizing current children (the church used preached chastity and continence even for married couples so that children are spaced giving time to focus on existing children but folks don’t like this church’s teaching in olden days now it is not even mentioned) May Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on us. Love that this priest says voluntary blindness instead of blaming on invincible ignorance. There’s no such thing as invincible ignorance as the Holy Spirit who actually does the conversion of souls is more powerful than any sort of ignorance and does His best to help all souls in any time and place to access eternal salvation through Jesus Christ. I agree these are most challenging times to be a Catholic parent but the Holy Spirit can help us overcome any challenge.

Candid and well said. When in the Novus Ordo I NEVER heard anything even close to this. Maybe I was at the wrong parish. Attend the Latin Mass.

+JMJ+ This is another extraordinary sermon. The priests of the SSPX are the embodiment of all that had ever been good in the Roman priesthood. They have prescient insight into human nature and unparalleled devotion to healing the human heart. Whatever I hear it witness that is negative vis-a-vis the SSPX, I can assure anyone that these are the finest priests of the Roman church, and I will go to my grave avowing it. Everything that was said NEEDED to be said. Ty Father!

This is a truly good sermon, and addresses a serious problem that is impacting SSPX right along with the novus ordo parishes.

I was anxiously staring at the face of my sleeping three weeks old son while listening to this sermon, I’m more determined in my resolve to do all I can to help him preserve his Faith and save his soul. From this sermon it has become even more obvious to me that, as parents, we could do everything in our power in terms of upbringing, but without God’s grace, our labours are nothing but futile

Good parenting and lead by (Catholic) example is the key to raise our children and ensuring a Catholic future. My heart breaks when I look at my older siblings who have departed from the Faith and I am having to constantly remind them of their Catholic roots.

Fantastic sermon. Sadly, no child is immune to the crisis in the Church and the culture of today. It is really up to parents to provide for the Catholic upbringing and Catholic education their child needs. We have to figure out how to raise strong Catholics in their faith by 18 years old, not just students who can pass a secular college exam.

Nearly 42 years ago, I met a Protestant who loved the Lord as much as my dad! I had never met a man so devoted to the Lord, although his spiritual practice was so different from my traditional Catholic life. We married. After seven years of research to convert me, my husband became a Catholic.❤ We raised six children, five boys and a disabled little girl who is now in Heaven. My sons married either New Order Catholics or Protestants. Only one of my daughters-in-law is in Love with Christ. Although a Protestant, she is honoring her husband's Traditional Catholic Faith. Their's are my only grandchildren who are progressing in a Catholic, sacramental life. HINT: FIND a spouse who loves the Triune God above all things.

Depressing that my children have got up and left no matter how much I have prayed for them and ultimately I and my husband are responsible no matter how much we practiced our faith . Its our fault!

Free will is what Christ has given us. Your children have decided to leave, because they believe the world. I made the same choice. Reflecting on how I was lukewarm, often scandalous, giving in to the culture’s view of the church, and how I let the self-inflicted wounds of my youth corrupt the way I raised my kids - I will be held accountable, no question. It is only now I realize the damage done. Christ says “be not afraid” more than anything in the Bible. Persevere in your faith. Even a wretched sinner like me has come around. God bless

No Mother, you mustn't blame yourself in this way. When our children leave, no matter how much we "did things right", the adult child is his own person and makes his own mistakes and decisions. The world, the flesh and the devil strives to pull us all down. Don't let yourself be downcast. I myself have lost almost half. And that is from children who were raised Traditional from the beginning, both parents traditional Catholic and loving the children. There are no perfect parents other than Our Lady and St. Joseph. And even the saints had children go the wrong way. But it is not over. You can save them. No matter how thankless they are and no matter how neglectful, you will never stop praying. Your prayer is the most powerful thing, as a mother, you have the means and the desire to save them, as no one else. You may never see their conversion, but it will happen if you don't give up. Offer up all the heartache and neglect that your children offer you for their salvation and to make up for any mistakes that you may have made along the way in raising them. I am offering a Rosary for you today and will keep you in my prayers. Please pray for me. God bless you!

Please don’t be so hard on yourself. Yes, we have 18-20 years to show our children and teach them how to be good Catholic adults in action and virtue. Yes, we will be made accountable for our poor or mediocre parenting. However, remember once they have left home, it will be up to them to listen to their conscience and the Holy Ghost-or ignore it. As adults, they will have to choose God’s will or their self-absorbed will. On Judgment Day, our adult children will not be able to say, “It was all my parents’ fault…”

Jacqueline. I disagree that adult offspring leaving the Faith is your fault. They have a God given responsibility to adopt and be faithful to the Church. Continue to pray for them all your days.

I cannot write on a phone anymore. Comes out like crap lol sorry. Maybe, on top of strong catechesis. Teach ethics in a way that would make sense even without an act of faith. For me when I reach this point, the active faith was automatic anyway.
