Lara Dutta on being a mentor for LIVA Miss Diva, Miss Universe,

The mentor of LIVA Miss Diva and actor Lara Dutta in an exclusive interview with Rudrani Chattoraj talks about the hurdles she faced during her pageant days. Lara Dutta also revealed the pressure she dealt with during preparation for Miss Universe 2000 as India hadn't won the crown for 6 years. She talks about her association with Miss Diva organization and mentoring the contestants for LIVA Miss Diva 2020. Lara also gives a brutal statement saying We Indians got spoilt because we had so many title winners and thought this was easy. She also hits back at trolls saying Indians need to rally for their own contestants instead of bringing them down on social media. She shares her advice for the contestants. Lara talks about the evolution of women in the Indian film industry. She shares her support for the #MeToo movement. She also reveals the advice she gave herself for her Miss Universe pageant. A very sensible and highly intellectual woman. Very good observation on how pageant fanatics rally for their girls on social media in countries like Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam. Unfortunately, in India people tend to scrutinize and constantly compare their winners to past international titleholders which is a good thing in a way. But time has changed and Indians should realise that with such a huge population, they can defy all odds and make their girl get into headlines if they give their full support to her on social media.

I will never forget Lara Dutta. She was so calm and poised. My jaw dropped when she speaks. It rarely happen when the winner becomes clear to everyone when its top 3. But Lara Dutta (2000), Catriona Gray(2018), Zozibini Tunzi (2019), I felt the runners up would need a Jesus or miracle to win. The other years , I feel like any of the three is okay. I had goosebumps when first, she mentioned the years 1992-2001 (actually, it did extend in 2002) being a golden era for India in beauty pageants (especially in Miss Universe), and second, when she compared India and the Philippines' social media approach in pageants. Spot on comments. No question she deserved to win both Miss India and Miss Universe in 2000. India's recent pageant contestants should really take Lara's insights very seriously at this point. But I think she really raised the bar in terms of all-around pageant preparations, and you can clearly see it on a lot of pageant contestants worldwide after her year, in and out of Miss Universe. Her performance when she won is really among the all-time most legendary.

I think internet trolling isn't a sensation just in india but its universal . And blaming candidates for not being well equipped for MU is like calling the kettle black Choosing representative just 3 weeks to 1 month before the pageant is nothing but a disaster . Many other countries choose their reps almost a year before the international pageant in order to get time for grooming but with Ms diva it's more about choosing someone and then letting them fend on their own.... ridiculous... no wonder india hasn't placed in the top 5 in years . It was much better off under the Femina group itself . And if u want India to take these winners serious you should be serious about them too

India is the legitimate powerhouse pageant during 90s and thats true! We almost thought back then that pageantries are meant for Indians. There were no social media before.
