Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly". This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonate, concerto or symphony that is using that specific parce. The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and give his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself. The classic music piece is globally famous and there were many different translations into different songs, with different music composition and different lyrics (Daniele Licari, Sarah Brightman and Sissel Kyrkjebo for instance). But the most famous version, by far, is Lara’s version: it was translated into a pop song for her, she wrote lyrics in english and italian for it and is the original performer of this new version. She kept the title Adagio and wrote a story with a double meaning: a woman that is awaiting to find her love / an artist that is awaiting the god of inspiration. There is an Artist “Gabriel Henrique” from Brazil, whom you might enjoy listening too. He is heavily influenced by Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson. Gabriel Henrique has a KZbin channel identical to his name. He is a friend of Lara. Jennifer Hudson is a big fan of Gabriel & they correspond regularly. He has a cover of Jennifer Hudson’s version of “I’m telling you” from the movie Dream Girls. Gabriel has 2 versions of “I want to know what love is” 1 is recorded on his phone in his car; because, people doubted it was him actually singing. Gabriel is a Gospel singer who is a devout Christian who sings from the heart: The Gospel, R&B roots are evident.

Yes Dame, she sounds way better live, Lara needs an audience to connect to in order to feed her soul and raise the bar up in terms of engagement and emotions conveying. That’s why, when she was in good terms with Sony, and she was in the studio to record the album version of this song, Tommy Mottola, head of Sony Entertainment at that time, brought his italian friends in the studio for her to have a public in front of her. Name of the friends? The goodfellas: Robert de Niro, Danny de Vito, Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci. 😂

Adagio dates back to 1685 as an Instrumental piece that was played during a Opera break. IMO Lara is always better live. 👍🏼

I'm sorry, but this is baroque music, this is Albinoni, that's the kind of music doesn't sing like that. I understand everything that Lara's husband died, and this was the cry of her soul. Baroque music DOES NOT sing like that! I like Lara Fabian... Without comments.

Ciao, devo correggere alcune cose imprecise che hai commentato......il marito di LARA non è mai morto perché lei si è sposata solo nel 2013 con GABRIELE DI GIORGIO che è ancora il suo attuale marito, la musica barocca di ALBINONI è stata stata riscritta da REMO GIAZZOTTO nel 1958 in chiave moderna quindi non era più musica barocca e LARA ha composto solo il testo in versione inglese e italiana .
