these are beautiful!! how do people know where to dig? i have no knowledge of geology and I just like to collect rocks and crystals in general. went on a hike once and found some cool smooth stones at a stream but that's all the trip amounted to. i prefer digging with a pick axe, shovel, my brushes, hammer, and chisel.. maybe I'm old school and a big kid at heart lol but there's this sense of imagination and exploration and accomplishment when you find them. it's not the same when you go to a park where everyone is doing it because that plot is known for providing pockets.

My favorite type of crystal pocket lots of space inside bcos that way the crystal gets a lot of room to grow and in staying in that pocket no disturbances so it doesnt form any cracks so its clear and a lot of space to grow big.

Do you look for anything on the surface before you decide where to dig? Or just randomly start digging?

Chunks of quartz on the surface. Usually you try to follow those uphill to find the source rock and then you start digging. If there’s no hill, just start digging. You want to be in an area that has pegmatite
