Here are a couple of tips that make assembly slightly easier kzbin.infoUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . 1) One person can assemble, but if you have a buddy to help, it will make it go faster - especially steps 1-3 and 8 (the legs aren't heavy but can be difficult to hold while screwing things in). Step 8, 1st part will take some time unless you have two more hands OR are really lucky. 2) Use a socket wrench! 3) Step 7, 3rd part - the flame carry over tube has an open side, MAKE SURE THE OPEN SIDE IS FACING THE FRONT. If it's facing the back, the tube won't work. 4) Step 10, 3rd part - if you don't have small hands (I don't, they're gigantic) getting the nut on is really difficult (but not impossible). It took me about 4 hours to assemble, but I took a "union break" every 60-90 minutes and ate a quick lunch. Also, I'm really OCD so I took my time, looked at the instructions carefully, and cleaned up as I went.

Great work, as usual Allen. I got a wire-feed welder in my garage that's pretty heavy duty that I got for a song about a decade ago. You make it look so simple, I may just make something with it. Like your videos, like your humility and your personality. Keep them videos coming, big daddy! Cheers!

I like that kind of grill. I had thought about square stock, now 3/8 round. I suppose that expanded metal would be ok. I still trying to figure out what size and thickness that you use. Just mention it sometime I'll try to be listing.

to keep it from domeing cutting it with a torch.....cut it in a skipping pattern. cut 4 inches jump 4 cut 4 jump 4.....then flip it and cut out the rest....cutting a consecutive line genereates alot of heat so the rapid cool is what pulls and warps it.....by skipping not only do you keep the temp down you have the original steel holding it in place while it builds stress.it always rolls up because heat rises. its the last to cool and as the metal cools it shinks making the top smaller if that makes sense. the only other way is to try and keep that plate heated to about 200-300(pre-heat soak) untill you cut all of it then wrap it in fire blanket to cool slowly. (really evenly is what your trying to achieve....the slower it cools the easier even is)

I just ran across your site, nice work! I actually made a barbecue pit and they are pretty close in design. The only thing I did different was in using stainless steel round stock instead of mild steel. I’m only guessing that you used mild steel in place of stainless due to the fact that we did not see you switch out your gas and wire for the welder and went straight from welding mild steel to welding the round bar. In the event I am mistaken and you used stainless for the round bar then I whole heartedly apologize Sir. You may want to cut/peel away the rubber in the clamp that you installed on the hood, it will most likely melt anyway. Have a great day!!!

Great vids to get ideas from without the usual 80% jabber jawing, that bow in the end plate could be removed by heating the side opposite the bow in the center with your torch and let it draw. Kinda pricey but why not use a plasma cutter to prevent heat transfer. Again great vid
