What might be a time and energy saver might be to freeze dry a great deal of tomatoes in lieu of cooking down to paste and canning. You can turn it into tomato powder. Not only does this have a wonderful fresh flavor when reconstituted but you can use as paste, sauce or juice depending on how much water you add to it. Very versatile.

How can Hannah be 5 months already? Seems like she was just born yesterday. When my brothers and I were small, our mother made us a teepee from a bedsheet. We had maple saplings for a frame, and we painted designs on the sheet, then draped it over the frame and pegged it into the soil. We had so much fun in that tent!

I've prepared potato salad already this morning, and I'm going to make teriyaki chicken wings for the fellas for lunch. Happy mothers day i love how you include and think of ways of including your children. Mny people with large families do not think of the impact like you do. You ask them to help but still allow them to be children where so many people don't. They grow up with such great memories of the time you spent with them.

Just to help out someone else that isn't aware, you can freeze excess tomato paste in the freezer if you don't use all of the can or a bulk can. You put it in the freezer bag and flatten it so you can break off a chunk if you only need a little and it is easier and less space taking that way. Have a great day and thanks for the video.

I’m used to French toast being whole slices of bread that you soak in the custard mix and then shallow fry but where I’m from in the uk we call it eggy bread! I learned another recipe from a friend where you use a pastry cutter to cut a small hole in the middle of a slice of bread and then put it in a frying pan break an egg in the hole and cook it like that and she called it a Jonny one eye. Goodness knows where she got the name from but the kids used to love it!

Where you have a freeze dryer you can freeze dry your tomatoes and then powder them abd then just add water to the consistency you want. It saves having to boil it forever to paste. Hi Jessica. I wanted to say thank you for the tent idea. I’m a long time watcher but never comment. I am an “older” mom. My youngest (and last) baby is 9 months old. As a 44 year old mom, I don’t have the energy I did when my oldest son (now 21) was little. I’ve struggled to find a way to keep the baby contained and yet still with me, while I garden. I can’t carry him in a baby carrier as I did with my older kids as I’ve suffered some spinal damage after an accident. I just ordered the pop up tent and can’t wait to set it up as a safe play place for him. I think my 5 year old (who has ASD) will also have fun with it! Thank you so much for sharing how you handle life and your homestead while still being a busy mom.

That’s where I’m at too Jessica. I have things planted but my main crop is Beans, Tomatoes and Bell Peppers. Can’t put them out just yet…but, they are in buckets. So, I carry the bucket outside when the temperature is above 55-60, and bring in at night. The tomatoes are still in the green container waiting to be planted in ground….still to cold here in Michigan at night
