how about getting a filter so you guys dont have to buy gallons of water? just curious since i was thinking it could be easier..
@classylifeboutique9 жыл бұрын
+professionalmartinez Thanks for the suggestion. We've had a filter on the faucet in the past, and we've also done Brita pitchers, etc... but the main reasons we buy water are because the city we live in has very hard water and because we try to avoid fluoride when/where we can. It's impossible to completely avoid fluoride 100%, because it's in the water that we cook with, wash clothes with, etc... but in order to consume less of it, we buy bottled spring water, which is actually pretty inexpensive. Someday, we'd like to be able to get a water filtration system that removes even fluoride from the water, but those are pretty expensive. Thanks for stopping by my channel. I hope you have a great week.

Just wanted to share with you that I recently had a "reverse osmosis" water filter installed under my sink. It is connected to the ice maker in the fridge, too!! I bought it directly from APEC although they sell them on Amazon. I got the "better" one for about $300 as I recall. Your husband can probably install it, but mine couldn't so we had the expense of a plumber. It's so incredible!!! The water tastes so good. I have a tester that I got on Amazon for around $10. Checked my water before and after and the reading after went down to about .04 ppm??? I don't really remember now, but my ice cubes actually look completely clear of crud. It removes about 95% of flouride. I also got a shower head filter to remove flouride and chloride (but it removes only about 75%). You could really save a lot of money with one of these!
@classylifeboutique8 жыл бұрын
Wow! That's awesome! Thank you for sharing! :) We used to have a great shower filter, but with our last move a couple of years ago, it didn't make it. We're renting the house we're in now, so I don't think they'd allow us to install a reverse osmosis filter. Maybe another landlord would, but our current "landlord company" is so bad that they'd probably charge us if we had this installed. We're not renewing our lease next year...we are so over all of their shenanigans. We've heard great things about reverse osmosis filters, and I think it's wonderful that yours is even connected to your ice maker. Yay! We will definitely keep this in mind for the future. Thanks so much for watching! :)

If she cooks a single meal with a side of corn each week for 1 month and her family of 7 eats through 3 bags of corn in 1 dinner then 12 makes sense. Or maybe she cooks 2 meals with a side of corn a week and her family eats 1.5 bags of corn for a meal. Either way, I could see how she makes use of it.

I need a breather and enjoy a cup of coffee and looking at the produce and meat, but even if it's spending $$ together, as long as there is a list in hand that both agreed upon, both should make the other welcomed and company desired.

+Trinity Carpenter I haven't done a video like that yet, but I will if you're interested. :) I can put it on my schedule for later this month. Basically, though, because we don't buy a lot of junky snacks, the healthier foods tend to get eaten and not forgotten. We have very little waste in our home, and even leftovers don't last long with five kids. So because we don't buy a lot of sweet/salty snacks, when my kids are hungry and it's not mealtime, I tell them to grab an orange or a banana or tortilla chips. What is the Ph level of the water you buy. I saw a video where a man said water should be between 6.5 and 8.5. Three brands that were in that range were Desanti, Big 8, and Aquafina. The others, according to him, are acidic and will cause all kinds of medical problems. My husband tested our tap water and it came back at 6.9. So I am now buying Desanti and Aquafina and using our tap water. Just thought I'd mention that so that you can test the water you bought. My husband used our pool tester and if you don't have one perhaps a pool company could test your brand of water.

+TheCJtheCregg We live in an area with not-so-great water (We've literally found one brand of dishwasher tabs that doesn't allow the water to leave terrible streaks on our dishes). It's not the greatest water, so we don't drink it. Though, I do use it to cook with, like I'll use it to boil water for pasta. However, for soups and things like that, we still use bottled water. Also, we're trying to avoid fluoride as much as we can (avoiding it 100% is impossible), and since it's added right into the tap water, we prefer to drink bottled water instead. +The Sensible Mom Not sure of the cost difference, but we used to go through bottled water like no one's business (we live in a bad water area as well) and we now use a water cooler and water delivery service. We love it and even if it was a little pricier, it's worth it not for me to have to lug gallons and gallons of water around (we lived in a second story apartment at the time). I'd also think it's a little "greener" since the 5 gallon bottles are just sanitized and reused. If you don't want to spend the money for the delivery service, I'm pretty sure there are a lot of places where you can refill your own 5 gallon jugs for like $.25 a gallon.

We are, however, looking into a water filtration system that removes a lot of the fluoride. We're hoping to possibly buy that system over the summer. :)

How big is your freezer?!?
@classylifeboutique8 жыл бұрын
+Emily Wheeler We have a regular refrigerator with a freezer. We don't have an extra freezer or anything out of the ordinary to store our food in. I'm planning on doing a fridge/freezer/pantry tour later this month to share. Thanks so much for stopping by my channel! :)

+The Sensible Mom you must have a big American one though - I'm in the uk so our freezer is tiny! I'm very jealous!
@HaLLiEB858 жыл бұрын
+Emily Wheeler my family has a bigger freezer . I think it's 30 cu ft or something like that. Our old one was 20. But it's just 4 of us adults, no kids at all. My brother and I are 30 and 35. I'm disabled from a back injury and he has a brain injury so no getting rid of us

Why do you buy bottled water? I guess I don't get it.
@classylifeboutique8 жыл бұрын
+Nichole Bird Thanks for stopping by my channel. I get a lot of questions about the water we buy. :) But basically, we live in an area that doesn't have great tap water. It's even problematic when it comes to cleaning our dishes with it. We've literally found one brand of dishwasher tabs that doesn't allow the water to leave terrible streaks on our dishes. We are, however, looking into a water filtration system that removes a lot of the fluoride. We're hoping to possibly buy that system over the summer. :)

Great haul! I love that most of it is organic! How come you buy so much water? Are you not able to drink the tap water where you live?

Seems like you should buy the water in the 5 gallon bottles, better for the environment, or just get a filtration system for your home, which is even better!
@patriciaorsborn71657 жыл бұрын
And obviously I don't know where you live, since this is the first time I've seen a video of yours (enjoyed it btw!) but it looks like California based on the names of your stores, so I am just curious if you've ever tried vegetable or container gardening, based on the outdoor space you have access to, seems like it would be a healthy, cost efficient, and educational thing to do for your family.

but water comes out of the tap for free?
@classylifeboutique8 жыл бұрын
+sophie steele No, our tap water is definitely not free. We pay a water bill every month. Thanks for stopping by my channel.
@tophiexsteele8 жыл бұрын
+The Sensible Mom well ya, but my point was it would be much cheaper to drink tap water or buy a filter for the tap. that way you save money and don't contribute to the waste of plastic water bottles
@classylifeboutique8 жыл бұрын
+sophie steele We prefer not to drink the tap water because it's fluoridated, and it's got other issues where I live. Also, typical filters for the tap don't remove fluoride. We are looking into getting a water filtration system that removes most fluoride this summer, though. And we recycle both the water bottles and the cardboard boxes that they come in. Thanks for your input.

Random question , do you have Native American in you ? You have great cheekbones
@classylifeboutique8 жыл бұрын
Thank you! :) I don't have any Native American in me that I know of. I'm half-Mexican and white. My dad is Mexican and my mom is white. Interestingly, I think my cheekbones came from my mom's side of the family because I have a cousin on that side who also has high cheekbones. It's nice to be told that I have high cheekbones these days. LOL - Because I grew up being told that I had "big cheeks" which doesn't sound as nice.

@hannahvolck8 жыл бұрын
great haul! love watching! could really do without the water though, very wasteful with the amount of plastic used. I have a brita water filter and it is wonderful. I highly recommend it. Even tap water is okay! Thanks for sharing! :)
@classylifeboutique8 жыл бұрын
+hannahvolck Thanks so much for your kind comments. :) We've used a Brita water filter in the past but don't anymore because it doesn't filter out fluoride, which is what we're trying to consume less of since it's added to our local tap water. We are planning on investing in a water filtration system over the summer, and I'll share more about that when we do. And we do recycle the plastic water jugs and the cases that they come in. :)

Is your family organic
@classylifeboutique8 жыл бұрын
+My Life As Jazmin Thanks for your question. We do try to eat as much organic food as our budget allows, but we don't buy everything organic. We're okay if it's GMO-free, or if it's something like a pineapple or avocados, we don't necessarily feel that we need to buy organic versions of those foods all the time. Since we don't eat a lot of meat (which can be expensive), we tend to put the money that would've been going to that towards good quality organic foods when as much as we can. Thanks so much for stopping by my channel. :)
