Great video, one of your best. Guess it proves one should never be afraid to ask! Next time you're down here in South Wales, check out the National Museum here in Cardiff. David Hurn has given his collection of over 700 prints made by his fellow Magnum photographers, ones that have been swapped for his own over the years. It's an amazing collection, and part of the deal is that the National Museum now has a permanent photography gallery. The current batch showing features prints made my Robert Frank, Elliot Erwit, Bruce Davidson, Ian Berry, Phillip Jones Griffiths, Martin Parr, Henri Cartier Bresson, Sebastio Salagado, John Bulmer and many more. Current exhib's up until March, then it's a different collection of his based around women photographers. Thanks again! :)

I know this is an old video but the portrait of Captain Beany using your flash is too cool. Maybe you can add a warm orange filter to your lens or on the flash so it will add warmest to the subject. ❤️

It may look "bleak and miserable", it may be bleak and miserable, but the UK was built on the blood spilt from people from these places. Who in the Cotswold's would have tattoo'd their heads for a mere 3K towards a charitable cause, they would pull out a fat cheque book and give the same amount no issue, but that's the point, that's the difference between the rich and poor in this country. As already said in the comments, you were condescending towards the place and people of Port Talbot, they can't help being poor, they wouldn't have had the opportunity to go to university, they don't wish to be poor, it would have been a choice of mining/steelworks when they left school, both potentially deadly jobs. Please look at the link I posted, deaths are still happening in these communities. When this happened a few years ago, the people who I worked with spent all night making cups of tea for the police and rescuers, and lost a days pay the next day for their troubles. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gleision_Colliery_mining_accident This is the reality of living in Port Talbot and the surrounding areas, a job that can potentially kill you, the M4 motorway polluting the air, a motorway that was built literally in peoples gardens ( with no financial compensation ) and a steelworks pumping all sorts into the atmosphere ( you're lucky your car didn't have a layer of dust deposited on it overnight ). Out of all that misery breeds people like Captain Beany - god bless Captain Beany

Nothing about that was condescending.

The large format shots look great George, especially the first shot with the car. A scene many would walk past without giving a second thought and you made it look beautiful. Also loved the bean museum, that's the reward for doing the spontaneous things on a road trip.

ok my question.. since the picture is upside down in the viewfinder, why ain't these cameras built to be mounted upside down so the picture in the viewfinder looks normal?
@TimothymakeupsDitzler7 жыл бұрын
Nick Kapenkar if you flip the camera the picture will still be up side down.
@joelkaswita17587 жыл бұрын
because then the photo would be taken upside down, which I guess would be easy to flip in post but..

I don't have a large format camera or lens, but I believe it's just 1 glass? I might be completely wrong. but to give you an idea.. if you've ever taken a magnifying glass where it just has one lens, and put it at a distance away from you, the image is flipped. get what im talking about? you can look up a video called "The Property of Camera Lenses" on youtube to look at the camera obscura and what its about

@garrettb.42576 жыл бұрын
That's because the subject in the foreground is a warm color while the background is cooler. It is a great way to make your picture 3D. I believe it's because we think of colder objects as farther away, think of how far away mountains are blue.
