Nice! The chasing of the Big Boy was fun to watch. Your outdoor trains are really neat. I've thought about putting something in my back yard and maybe it will come to fruition in a couple of years. An excellent video, as always.

Glad you liked it! It takes a while to get everything in place, but it’s really fun to watch it all come together! In my opinion, it’s not so much important what you build as the fact that you dive in and just start building something. I hear so many people say that they don’t have room for a model railroad. What they’re really saying is I don’t have room for the model of railroad. I’d love to have! But anyone can build a shelf that’s 18 inches wide and 8 feet long, and it can be hugely satisfying, and a lot of fun.

Wooow, 1000 shows? Amazing! Very well done. Talking of chasing trains, I'm currently putting together my video of when I chased a train out of Durango, then later in the day chased a train into Chama 😂. (My 69th video!). It's always great seeing your model railroad. I started watching you when you were just pulling out some models before starting the build. It's always great to see it's progress. Onwards!!! 🚂

We do, however, have the coldest spot in the lower 48 located just a few miles from here. Well, I shouldn’t say just a few miles but let’s say about 70 miles. I guess. Peter sinks. Somebody put in a weather station there just because they thought it was a really cold spot and they were not disappointed. I believe it was -40 something last night.

I know! It’s gonna be a blast! 🚀🚀🚀. Yesterday I laid ties and rail in place. I need to get some more rail, but there seems to be a shortage of it. It’s like toilet paper I guess. Anyway, I’m going to focus my attention on connecting the two ends of the railroad and just let the lead over to the turntable go for a while.

Thank you so much! Glad you’re here! Thank you sooooo much!!!! I can’t get rail! Shortage. Sigh. I have 24 feet of rail. So I’m going to lay the track from the portal to the yard lead. And about three feet of the lead to the turntable. Then onto the tunnel portals. Until the rail arrives.

Cobgrats on the episode number 1000. I find your adventures in large scale very interesting to follow and the idea of having a partly indoor and outsoor lay out on stilts in good because afer all, none of us gets any younger and having the in your face experienece of seeing thos trains. Hopefully your engine servicing area fits and becomes manageble, one of the downsides of large scale as you not always realize how large they are actually. My Bachmann RGS C19 is well and sits on G scale track quite comfortable. Cheers from Sweden!

Hi dave! I saw you’ve got your new video up and I just haven’t had a chance to look at it! I’m sure it’s amazing. We love that little railroad you’re building. I love to see these little tiny railroads, especially when they’re gems like this one.

Hi Dale & Karen..... Chuckle. Chasing trains. I will have to say, I've done that numerous times in the last 40 - 50 years. The first time..... I missed boarding the Skunk Train by 10 minutes in Fort Bragg. Keep in mind, this was in the late '70s..... When we had no cell phones, Google maps, etc. So I just headed east on the road to Willits, thinking I might find a spot to take pictures of the train going by. Well, I know now the railroad goes one way, and the road goes another. Reached Willits a little over an hour later..... Only to learn the train would not be there for another 2 and 1/2 hours. Lesson learned.
@ToyManTelevision16 сағат бұрын
I know that feeling! I've been chasing trains for 20+ years and always end up in the wrong place at the wrong time. For me, one of the greatest frustrations before we had cell phones was trying to figure out if I was ahead of her behind the train. I’d arrive at the location that I wanted to see thinking that I must be there just before the train because I just chased it from a different location, we need to find no one there. So does that mean the train has already passed that point or is it still yet to arrive so I’m setting up my camera, hoping that the train will soon be there and sometimes it was and sometimes it wasn’t!

Idk about the full circle turntable; if space is tight, the pit itself can be truncated at the fascia -- a 🌖or 🌗instead of🌕 If it pivots on the pivot point, the turntable bridge should be fine swinging over the aisle but that's dependent on its construction and how heavy the locos are.
@ToyManTelevision6 сағат бұрын
That is an interesting idea! We do have enough space but just barely. When there’s a locomotive on the turntable, it does foul yard lead but as long as the two locomotives, don’t get out there and compete for space everything is OK! We did see a turntable on a live steam railroad where they had done just that. The turntable pit was only halfway around and the bridge swung out over the main line. The things to do when space is tight!

Perhaps the turntable can overlap the adjacent engine track during its operation? A slight grade change and likely prototypical. Of course. Happy times.
@ToyManTelevision6 сағат бұрын
I’ve seen that done! There isn’t clearance but no overlap. But if there’s a locomotive on the turntable the yard lead is fouled. But like I say. They did this! So Proto and fun as well!! 🚂🚂🚂

We’ve been debating getting a larger one and moving that to a different location and the tenants use it. Those things are just amazing.
@johnmcanulty734115 сағат бұрын
Or, the loco riding on the turntable could suddenly rise up over the adjacent track via a mechanical cam. At the the shaft of the turn table?
@ToyManTelevision6 сағат бұрын
We saw that very thing on a live steam railroad. The turntable pit was only halfway around and the bridge swung out over the top of the main line. Gee, what could possibly go wrong?
