They are all porcelain tiles, if you are DIY don't even bother trying you will end up costing yourself thousands.... I have been tiling for 13 years and I wouldn't attempt this without the aid of someone who has experience with it. Very specialised work and much more to it than meets the eye.

Ya, I'm 26 years in, with my share of marble and granite slab work, both 2cm and 3cm, and I still wouldn't attempt this shit without getting serious training. You're comment was spot on.

If you DIY don't try any tiles , first time result will be the same horrible

Unfortunately they are only showing you the finishing parts, not all the necessary prep work. I do these installs regularly and it is not as quick as they make it look.

I've done them several times and the work is all in the preparation - surprisingly easy but buy the right tools from Granit Fiandre

great video, very stunning work! just for the sake of a scenario, is there ever any issue with adding that much weight to a room structurally?

when they knocked out the plastic clips, pieces of plastic remain embedded in the mortar. compromises the bond between tile & substrate.

Do you have removal of slab videos as I am wondering how do you remove a slab without damaging the marble.

The marble effect tile on the wall - Is this manufactured by Mirage SpA? Is it a porcelain tile or ceramic tile? Is it a statuario or carrerra effect?

The large-size slabs in this video are Mirage porcelain tiles. In details, for this tutorial we used Jewels collection: JW 06 Fumo di Londra for floor JW 12 Statuario Lunensis for wall

Sheer misery working with these gargantuan tile. The cuts have to be so precise and then there is lippage, which is a fight from beginning to end. These tile cost more money and time to install, and the tools required are EXPENSIVE ~ no thanks.

For pros out here, anyone has recommendation for the glue/adhesive used for the walls? Couldn’t find anything on Home Depot (class T, EN 12004)

You just have to do an outside mitre. For normal size tiles you can achieve it with a diamond blade on an angle grinder and some polishing wheels. These guys probably used cnc

The substrate must be as uniform as possible to avoid "voids" formation under the slab. The larger the slab, the more uniform the substrate must be.

Not if you resin your mitres. Stronger than the original porcelain.
@Chris11249
@Chris11249 3 жыл бұрын
@@joeligreen Yeah good Epoxy is key, and don't do a 45 degree miter do a 50 degree to give more room to work with and get the epoxy deep in there. Also leave a few mm edge so it's not too thin and round out the epoxy outside of the edges and it will be fine. Granted I would not do this in certain areas of a hotel lobby.. Too easy for a bellman to smash the cart into the edge of it by the elevator etc.
