Wow! Thanks so much for such a thorough comparison video! I have a few images to project and nothing to project on, so this will be very helpful! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I'm just getting started, so this comparison video is super helpful. I'll probably start out with something very cheap and then add more expensive materials and accessories each year. Again....great video with detailed commentary!
@OldSchoolHaunter Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much :-) Starting cheap is a good way to get in touch with it. When it works you can start over using other materials.

Great unbiased review. It's clear that you don't get kickbacks and give an honest breakdown in projection materials. Can you do the same for an outside setup as well? (Halloween and Christmas season in northern weather conditions)

I am using a frosted shower curtain. It is working fantastic for my window.

Ok thanks. That’s good to know. So I should take a look at the frosted shower curtain 🙂

I am going to be looking for the frosted shower curtain. Seems we could spray some sort of pigment on clear plastic. Maybe a frosted color of sorts or faux snow perhaps. Thank you for the run down kind sir. I'm excited to see what I come up with.

Thank you for such a thorough, informative video!!! I have three big windows I’d like to project onto, this will be great for helping me balance quality & budget. Can’t wait to test out your ideas!

Hi :-) great to hear it helped you in finding a material for projection on windows. Please keep in mind, the projector can also play a big role when talking about projections. But the material itself can also make big differences, when you already own a projector :-)

Thank you for the reviews. I saw that someone used a frosted shower curtain. I am waiting for my projector to test it out.

You are welcome. Great to hear it helped you. Can you please tell what is the difference between the frosted shower curtain and the one I tested in this video?
@decoyboy5513 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comparison video. That had to take some time to do. I went to Wal-Mart and bought a frosted shower curtain for just over $5 usd and clear shower hooks/loops for $3 usd. Did a quick test and the images came out clear and you could not see the projector light. Done in a dark room hanging from a ceiling.

I know this is very late as a comment BUT ive used quite a few screens and surprisingly dollar store disposable table cloths are a great thickness to provide a very clear image.
@OldSchoolHaunter Жыл бұрын
It’s never too late. Thanks for the advice. I’ve never been thinking about using this material. Is it like paper or more like foil? I know such disposable table cloths in Germany and these are made of a paper like material. I don’t know what it is. So maybe I should try this too 😊😊😊 thanks 👻👻👻

@@OldSchoolHaunter I'm in Canada, here they are thin plastic with an almost rubberized feeling. If I had a way I could send you video of us setting up this year's displays (yes we start testing early)

@@nickrobertson9533 - Are those the super thin white plastic table covers at the dollar store, or some other color?
@nickrobertson9533 Жыл бұрын
@@mattp5991 I've mostly used the white but the light grey works better in some applications. I find it you want your darker colours darker the light grey works well to give more vivid colours.

Yes they are super thin and definitely considered disposable

What would have been great is to also include prices and have that part of the ranking decision. But over all it was good info. Thanks

Butter bei de Fische… Was ist deine Empfehlung? 👻 BTW. Das Video ist sehr cool. Aber ich bin immer noch beim Original von AtmosFX.
@OldSchoolHaunter Жыл бұрын

And for you, which materials provide the best result ?
@OldSchoolHaunter2 жыл бұрын
Hi pitnatclem. My personel ranking can be seen at 30:15 But to answer your question. Until the test run I used AtmosFX Window Projection Material or the contruction foil (I hope this is the right translation) a thick foil which is used at the construction side to cover things. But I think I will switch to show curtain this year, or the fabric Ditte from IKEA in white beause I am not 100 percent sure if I do a projection from the inside this year like in the this test or from the outside to my hole house. If I project from the outside I need to cover my windows so I think try on of the frabrics from IKEA.
@GrandmasHouseFun2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your review. This was extremely helpful. I do have the AtmosFX window projection material which I have been using for 6 years now. I was curious if there was a better material. I’m going to try the shower curtain you have reviewed. You can iron the polyester shower curtain. Just make sure to use the right setting on your personal iron. A low to medium heat is fine. Polyester will melt if it gets too hot so don’t let the iron sit in one spot too long. Can’t wait to try it out for my Halloween and Christmas window projections!
@OldSchoolHaunter2 жыл бұрын
@@GrandmasHouseFun Great to hear I could help you with this. Even it's a long clip. Thanks for the advice about ironing the shower curtain. I will check my iron and will start at the lowest setting to try it out 🙂 Good to know, that it is possible.

@@OldSchoolHaunter The "Construction foil" you refer to is just plastic sheeting.
@OldSchoolHaunter2 жыл бұрын
@@markurry3149 Oh thank you very much :-) didn’t expect that easy translation since this one is a little bit thicker then normal one from the supermarket or so. In Germany this type of plastic sheeting is mostly used on the construction side. That’s why I came up with this translation. So thanks for this hint 🙂
@haunthunterify4 күн бұрын
I disagree. The IKEA one looks terrible. You could see the light of the projector which takes away from the actual effect.
@OldSchoolHaunter3 күн бұрын
Thanks for your opinion. The light point of the projector is a common problem, when projecting from the inside of the house. In this case the visitor (so me in the video) is directly in front of the window, which is the worst case (from my point of view). The only thing to solve it would be to move the projector downwards, so it is not in the field of view for the visitor. Best case is projecting in the first floor, so the visitor has to look upwards.
