So watching your yt video I cant believe that there is someone else on this Earth that is a craftsman at every level start to finish. I myself have sought to be professional level at everything between excavation to shingles. Few will realize the passion and commitment it takes to know the professional level of application of all trades to complete a project such as this with forethought from rough-in to finish, all trades in one. I have over 35 years in mastering the application of multiple trades to accomplish a fine, functional, quality, finish that customers marvel at....Sir I marvel at you and your forethought and set up for the finish...I’m not alone! In the US we have a Quantity/Cost driven economy and general mindset. We prefer to have things cheap and plentiful over the best quality. This is terrible in the long run as all it ends up doing is making things break down faster and nothing really ends up lasting or standing up to the test of time. But like the previous comments have mentioned you get what you pay for.

@@superduperkid3143 That's not the true reason though. As someone who hired contractors and ended up hating the job, would have gladly paid an extra 30% to have this guy instead. The problem is I couldn't find anyone like this guy. Most of them are just greedy GCs who don't actually do the work and sub it out. They also charge ridiculous amounts already. If you know anything about construction type of job (whether it's remodeling, HVAC, or other home improvement areas), you would know the ridiculously fat the margin in. I have a good friend in HVAC, and he confirms over 50%, and sometimes up to 70-80% of the price you pay for say a new AC is in labor. If you paid $4K for an AC, the AC itself may just cost somewhere around $1.5K and you are paying the guys $2.5K for 3-4 hours of labor. The same thing can go for these remodeling work. These GCs will sub out the tile work for like $500 and pocket the other $800.

@@barrellcooper6490 Maybe, but he said the homeowners were excited to see all the different styles and textures. It's like they looked at some home reno magazines and decided to take all the current design trends and throw them together. @birdlady2725
@birdlady2725 3 жыл бұрын
@@dottiegriggs6706 There are too many factors in a re-do to give any general price. Get a few contractors - there are some who specialize in kitchen and bath remodels, and get quotes from them. *If they run into structural issues etc after starting, this will raise the costs significantly, so have a buffer in your budget. Also, get in writing exactly what they are doing and supplying (are you buying the tile or are they? Etc.). Compare apples to apples. Your location will also determine costs - NYC vs small town USA. Great job it’s amazing how much work is involved in a small bathroom. I’ve done several. One little tip I like to add handicap 2X6 blocking in areas where a future rail bar may be added. Even near the toilet on your left side wall is a good place for a nailer. Really helps when installing a hand rail. The lights are called canless wafer lights and are a nice new type of light very versatile. Also some of the other wall board options are the Shluter system which is a foam board way easier to install however very pricey. I like to compromise with Hardi board or Hardi backer board. Little liter, easier to cut with a knife and snap like drywall. Its also real easy for one of these small bathrooms to go sideways and one problem leads to others during the finish and disaster if not addressed at the time they come up. Measure level then measure again as you mentioned is so important. Lots of prep before the next step is crucial and you did just that with protecting areas as needed and clean as you go. Nice job.

I'm so very proud of you!! I built houses w my x husband (carpenter all his life). We did it all from footer to bringing house up off slab, to roof, to all the inside and outside. Now, I find dating is hard for me cuz most men don't like doing projects and hate that I know so much hahaha. Here's a laugh for you. Guy I dated had old ceiling foam tiles falling down in one big room, with exposed insulation & you could see the underside of roof. So if figured out what I needed him to buy, came up with a plan and told him I'd meet him at his house. I got there before he did. So I jumped on in ripping down ceiling removing all trim etc. I was nearly done when he got to his house. HE FREAKED! He had so many panic attacks.hahaha He was like OMG YOUR LIKE A TORNADO AND NEVER ALLOWED ME TIME TO THINK IT OVER. I told him I think after him not fixing it in 15 years...he had enough "thinking" time.lol I got it all finished out and he has a beautiful wood ceiling in there now but lawdy mercy he was a nervous cat about it. Still good friends but now he knows when I say a project only takes a few hours...that what it really means is at least 1 to 3 days, or more. 🤣 🤣

Really, really nice work. Agree with the other commenter -- your narration is very well done: you explain the right things, keep it moving, and highlight the work. Wish my crews were as thoughtful as you were here. Well done.

Really appreciate it. Thumbed up and subscribed 🤗 - Since your channel focuses on how, I'm not going to criticize the "what/design" choices made by the clientele 😅

I love those retrofit led can lights too man. I use those any time I'm adding lights to an exiting ceiling. They are by far the easiest to install.

This looks amazing. I'm curious about the actual showering. Is this a bathroom that's ok to have water splash over the wall or does the wall act well enough as a barrier to prevent splash? Thanks.

I would bet that is one thing the homeowners regretted. We moved into a home in which the previous homeowners converted a shower/tub into a double shower with an opening like that in the middle of the two showers. Water gets all over the floor. We hate it. We had to come up with a makeshift idea to put a shower curtain up and use over the door hooks to hold it. It's tacky as heck, but it keeps the water from getting all over the bathroom floor until we can eventually remodel it.

I respect that you take your time you cleanup between the different processes of the remodel makes everything less chaotic and I totally agree with different types of tile about tying everything together with the same grout. Great job

Actually 5, the floor in the room 1, the floor in the shower 2, the tile on the shower wall 3, the subway tile on the outside of the shower 4, and the skinny tiles in the shampoo alcove and under the subway tile 5. Maybe it was leftovers from other jobs IDK. Further proof that just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. LoL. As long as they are happy. I like the pebble floor. Great workmanship.
