Here is one of the largest African Cichlid tanks in the world. This tank showcased the cichlids of Lake Malawi including many mbuna, haps and few peacocks. This mixture was quite impressive and could possibly be considered one of the most heavily stocked public aquariums out there. Owning a Monster tank like this would be quite the undertaking and cost. This Huge Tank is on display at the Toronto Metro Zoo.

Nice. Have you seen the one at Busch Gardens near Tampa, FL? I was last there in 2000. I was actually part of a hippo display, but you could govdown steps to see thru glass, the hippos swim. It was huge and just teeming with African cichids.

That's a huge display tank. The one for Malawi at the Shedd isn't even close. Did you see any hybrid fish? I always wondered if yellow labs and red zebras were kept together in large enough groups and a larger aquarium, if they would so readily crossbreed. Wasn't sure what that first barred fish you focused on was.

AJK Aquaria I've never really had an issue with crossbreeds provided I had suffient females for a specific male. The firs one I focused on was a crossbred zebra of sorts lol...didn't really see any others though.

You would have to go with some tanganyikan fish. Like julidochromis or calvus.

Did the zoo list gallons/water capacity? Zero aggression seen! Do locations in Lake Malawi have anything similar in swarming population density? I like it but would like rare Victorians, Tanganyikans or rarer Mbuna on display. Color me impressed but jaded

In lake malawi there can be up to 20 fish per square metre.
