@@Heyant essentially a glorified flare It will illuminate a wide area,how big the area is depends on the size of the shell WW2 warship use this shell to calculate the range since trying to figure out where the shell impact during the night is practically impossible

Well in reality, any kind of "flare" like round for the cannons would be welcomed. Currently if you want something similar, you have to literally build a separate, one time use contraption onto your build. I'd rather be able to yeet a flare into the stratosphere with something like the battle cannon.

@@nonnodacciaio704 Originally I used a robotic pivot but that only had 90° traverse left and right, then they released turret rings as I was building it, and I preferred it having more traverse, the only issue was that i couldn't think of a logic block or circuit that could give the traverse lever a deadzone making it easier to centre it.

A simple numerical switch box controlled by a toggle button to stop the traverse would solve that throttle problem. It's nearly impossible to 0 out throttle levers once you've moved them and if they don't have a min or max of 0.

Even adding threshold gates would help if one wanted to use the throttle for the look of a lever control.

I was planning on a Railway gun for my war train, even got the base laid down, just dont have a good idea on how to make it look or fucntion (as i cant test without the dlc), plus i need to redo the base so it can snap in place while moving. seeing this actually would help me in designing one, i think ill continue designing the base design and then when i get the dlc add the weapons...yeeeah that should be fine.

About the traverse issue, a good way to fix it I use on my tanks and others stuffs is to put a button with two threshold gate connected between the traverse lever and the rotation speed value of the lever himself. Off, it let the cannon move like it does naturally. On, it will bring the value back to a null rotation speed and stabilize it. If it can help the author or whoever read this comment.

Just use threshold set to 0.5 and -0.5 connected to throttle then numerical switchbox when throttle is above 0.5, switbox output 1, when between-0.5 and 0.5 it output 0. If throttle is -0.5 or less another switchbox output-1. The numbers can be adjusted for speed and sensitivity. You can even use a second throttle and multiplication to adjust turret speed. Buttons with switchboxes are easier than throttle, but it can be done either way.

it was inspired but not based on it, I wanted to do the Schwerer Gustav but first I needed to figure out how the gun mechanics work and this was the result, and I am currently revising the traverse controls and am planning to implement a targeting computer

It really annoys me that NJ had infinite ammo the entire time meaning he thought the gun loaded in a certain way yet it was just the infinite ammo working. I hope that people that are new to stormworks won't try to do this as well and then just get frustrated

Schwere gustav it’s called not Dora, Dora was the nickname given to the second Schwere gustav but it was destroyed shortly after it was built and the extended barrel was also destroyed before it was unleashed on the south coast of Britain
