I hadn't thought of Art in conjunction with Larnell, but you are right on point. I have several of Art's albums and actually there are similarities, but Larnell is subtler and more dynamic. By that I mean that he actually goes quiet and expressive at times which Art seldom did.

The total package: speed with hands and feet, amazing vocabulary, wonderful listener throughout the ensemble, chops that don't stop, and sensitivity to each dynamic change. Larnell, you're the standard by which I now measure drumming. It's been years since I've played seriously, but watching you makes me want to pick up my sticks again. At this stage in my life, I'll never accomplish musically what you have and will yet, but your playing is just inspirational.
