How is it that Rose took 5x defending champion Joanna out in 1 round and beat her convincingly in the rematch, a technical battle, took champion Zhang out in 1 round and edged her in a very close rematch, then lost to Esparza in the ultimate sleeping pill of a fight? Just insane. She's one of the most well rounded, brilliant fighters but that recent one was simply baffling and not indicative at all of the world class fighter or person she is.

Rose was more worried about Carla's grappling than Weili's. Carla will lay on you for 5 rounds with no remorse, but we haven't really seen that with Weili even when she out grapples people.

There's something about that intercepting right cross at 15:52 that's so beautiful. She times it in such a way that she's able to hit Weili cleanly while ducking under the left hook counter at the same time. Even better is that she used it as a set-up for the takedown at 16:46. She's used that set-up/takedown in past fights, but perfecting the right cross makes the set-up much more convincing.

It's crazy how she went from having 6 insane fights (joannax2,Jessica x 2, Weili x 2)... to the absolute can show against Esparza. I'm a Rose fan but jesus that was horrendous. From all account the main issue was Pat Barry was the main corner man for it rather then Whitman. Bounce Barry back to towl boi going forward and stick with Whttman or its a quick nose down to the prelims ya keep this crap up.

Good eye. I think it might have been a liver shot, hence the reaction. And this was while Rose attempted the same lunging left hook she used against Joanna at UFC 217, except Joanna stood still and attempted to parry what she thought was a jab, while Weili moved off the center line -- completely eliminating the guessing game -- and used the superior angle to counter Rose. Good stuff.

Wonder who Colby will fight next after beating Masvidal easily. Colby vs Dustin would be great but at 170. Dustin, who is a bad ass, loves 2 cut 30-40 lbs 2 make 155. He dud fight Conor at 170. The only people who think Weili won the rematch are those who mistakenly believe Weili rocked Rose in the second round. Rewatch the fight. That punch went under Rose's armpit and she slipped on the slippery canvas, like many other fighters did that night. Rose wasn't hurt at all. Actual strikes were 22-12 Rose in that round. It wasn't even close. Rose clearly won rounds 2, 4 and 5, so 48-47 Rose is the correct decision. And that's being generous and giving the first round to Weili.
