Have you considered choking up on the axe while on reverse grip? Gives you something to block more traditionally while still using that axe blade in very close quarters, provided that is part of your ruleset

Reverse grip works for a dagger not a sword or axe.

While a dagger can be easier to use, I fought against many dual wieldings using the same or shorter length sword on their off-hand and fight well with them. It takes practice, I prefer a dagger myself

@@larpbutler4961 oh sure you can use a sword in your off hand. Or any weapons for that matter. But for reverse grip, let’s take a standard 1 handed sword. If your holding it in reverse grip you cannot easily perform any over head attacks, any block you do has to be moving (so you’re essentially just knocking the blow away) which means you will have to compensate for a smaller block window by moving yourself to avoid the blow if you fail to interrupt it. You guard will be left wide open as you can’t really hold a reversed sword in front of your body, and the only advantage of a reverse grip, which is increased power and accuracy when stabbing is completely cancelled out by how much harder it is to stay accurate with a larger weapon, not to mention most LARP events have rules regarding stabbing/thrusting meaning you won’t be allowed to do it with your sword. And there is not one single reason to use and axe in reverse grip. Of course if you just want to try it out and have fun then fine but if you want to use reverse grip effectively, dagger.

reverse grip works in larp because theyre untalented. Beyond that you dont need to worry about your enemy following through. once they tap your weapon its blocked.
