"One more god rejected" does make sense thematically. The second commandment says, "thou shalt have no other gods before me." The god in this lyric refers to the gods of other religions. Here's a little irony for me personally: I had always thought "one more God rejected" was supposed to use a different syntax. As you yourself said, the game never calls any of the demons as "gods". The only god mentioned is the Great Will, AKA capital-G God higher than even YHVH. And "rejecting" them isn't a central theme, not in the game's words. But you know what is a central theme? Getting rejected BY God. This is in the game. All of mankind is raptured away in the intro, told they are unworthy of anything but wandering the Labyrinth. The Mannikins are completely rejected by God and Kagutsuchi, they are flat-out forbidden from forming a Reason. Hiriji is rejected by God for the crime of deicide. Yuko is rejected by Aradia, one of the few characters called a lowercase-g "god", for her lack of conviction. Thus I had thought it's "one more [whom] God [has] rejected"
@jive2382 жыл бұрын
I too thought the one more god reject bit was not about rejecting god but instead how the demi fiend is rejected and seemingly abandoned by god. Cause you've been nothing but lucifer's little pet project since the world ended and god can't/won't help you now or something along that line of thought. lucifer gets off too easy with the smt fanbase but they're all ready to jump on yhvh's throat at the drop of a hat, doesn't help that he's the last boss in some games.

Actually manikins aren't human so they can't form a reason, Yuko lacks the will and a vision so she can't form a reason, especially because Aradia isn't a demonic sponsor and hijiri is a manikin so he can't form a reason, I don't think anyone was rejected by God, because the game is a dissection of human character. Whereas previous games are discussing characters who are aligned to a belief, nocturne is a study on the types of people who would create a belief to align with. God is supposed to love humans as his creation and demifiend simply isn't human, and with Yuko the laws of the world allow for her to create the new world but she just can't because some people are simply not that kind of person.

Back then everyone assumed it was just gibberish or dog barking sounds but since I had been a fan of Black Metal, Death Metal, etc. variants I knew I was hearing -something- that sounded like distorted English language lyrics and listened to those songs for hours, flipping to the lyrics segments again and again. I just kind of posted what seemed right to my ears which are still functioning pretty well-- I can hear high frequencies now still even today around age 40 which is something usually only small children and teenagers can, and which is irritating sometimes. Eh I really don't hear it, I could test it like it did all the other can lyrics but some sounds I am pretty certain of because of how that particular Mac text to voice pronounces it. @GiantPotato Жыл бұрын
@@Larrue Right but there are other segments that are not really wholly in line with the bible refs as you noted in this video. It could just be that we can't really know 100% if Meguro himself didn't save a record of the actual lyrics as he wrote them, which is unfortunate. I stumbled on this video and just wanted to share this weird piece of history. I'm closer to 100% sure I got it right with the other songs though since there was just less noise to contest with in hearing them out. I also didn't know that the Japanese fans didn't pick up on these songs having actual decipherable lyrics until ~7-8 years after I did. That was interesting to me. Cool video.

What’s interesting to me, is that some lyrics can be heard both ways. When you did the side by side comparison, I can hear “One more God rejected” clearly, and then after your version played, the original line sounded clearly like “War broke out in Heaven.” A real Yanny/Laurel kinda phenomenon and that’s super cool. I’d honestly love to see someone make an extended version of the track, with both versions of all the lyrics. I never found the lyrics (even the fan ones) to be contradictory at all. I always took the reference to fearing and giving glory to God was not removed from the theme of the song -- they are literal. By the lyrics' reckoning, god's judgement is fucking terrifying, and you SHOULD be afraid. Giving glory to god is the obligation you must subject to. NONE of this is being said in a positive light. It's a warning to the power of god, and you being a supplicant at the feet of this all powerful dictator, which is obviously such a significant running theme with this franchise it almost feels pointless to bring it up. That, and the fact that a portion of the lyrics we know ARE extracts from the Bible word-by-word shows that there was definitely intention to the lyrics used. Whether Meguro expected them to ever be analysed or not is immaterial. I don't think he expected anyone would ever think too hard about it, but that doesn't mean he set them up meaninglessly. He didn't just roll his face on a keyboard and I find it incredibly condescending to suggest that. Sometimes people can just make things that are meaningful to them in a creative way, not for the sake of an audience. Also, Lotus Juice is a japanese rapper. Rap in Japan is far more about the lyricism, wordplay and harmony of each line rather than it having any specific overt clear message -- japanese rap often has no underlying story but rather focuses a lot on rhyme structure, repetition and wordcount, which off-shoots from japanese poetry whereas western rap is design between the form and function of language, a marriage of poem and prose. Lotus isn't just some dumbass who writes lyrics randomly, he's a japanese rapper. lol

Theres just one thing that you mightve overlooked. Thematically "One more god rejected" does fit the song without a swap in ideologies , as if the song is about praise to the lord, the highest power , the big man himself, then "One more god rejected" would fit a follower, messiah , angel or even god himself. He commanded "Thou shalt not have any gods before me" . The demons albeit explicitly called demons are in fact still gods in other religions, to reject these gods would be to demonize them thus "One more god rejected" still fits thematically and is in reference to a line in the bible. Youre probably right about "i am the bug inside you" not being the real lyric , if you change it to "I am above, beside you" The song can be interpreted as one uniform perhaps Angel in this case chanting about God

I like the "One more god rejected" as a Christian, because to me it sounds like rejecting a false god, like Lucifer trying to usurp God's place, and not rejecting God actually ...
@Kerrisive2 жыл бұрын
I personally thought "One More God Rejected" was actually "Hark our God in Heaven." I also thought "I'm the Bug Inside You" was "I'm Your Lord and Savior." That being said, I LOVE how compressed and distorted the lyrics are, given how SMT is all about Law and Chaos, so it makes sense that the lyrics can be deciphered two different ways in accordance to those two factions.
@everettfisher61932 жыл бұрын
I think "I AM THE BUG INSIDE YOU" might be either "I AM THE ONE INSIDE YOU" or “I AM THE ONE BESIDE YOU”, but I'm not sold on it. I also tried listening for "BABYLON HAS FALLEN" (Rev. 14:8); "I KNOW YOUR WORKS, YOUR SERVICE" (Rev. 2:19); "LET THEM REST FROM [THEIR] LABOR" (Rev. 14:13); "FOR YOU ALONE ARE WORTHY" (Rev. 4:11); “I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA” (Rev. 21:6); and “I AM THE ROOT OF DAVID” (Rev. 22:16), but none of those work either. (I’ve got the New American Bible, St. Joseph Medium Edition so the wording is probably different from what the KJV says.) I feel more confident that “I HAVE YOUR BACK TO THE WALL” may really be “I HAVE BEEN THERE FOREVER.” The last word is what I hear most clearly, and it sounds like “forever” to me-so something, something “forever.” I thought I heard “I HAVE BEEN BANISHED FOREVER”; “EVIL WILL [EVIL’LL] BE BANISHED FOREVER”; or “PRAISE AND WORSHIP FOREVER” at first, but “I HAVE BEEN THERE FOREVER” stands out to me more and fits together with the first line better pseudo-thematically (since Meguro was just pulling random phrases with no real significance to the game). If “I am the bug inside you” is referring to the Magatama, then why is the thing that gives Demi-fiend power saying “I have your back to the wall” which sounds like a threat? “I am the bug inside you, I have been there forever” or “I am the one beside/inside you, I have been there forever” may be referring not to the Magatama but Demi-fiend’s fighting spirit/his id, the demonic tendencies/potential to become a demon, or desire to see the world destroyed he might have always had deep down as a human before Lucifer changed him. It seems like asking Meguro himself is the only way to get a definitive answer on the first two lines, but given that Nocturne released almost 2 decades ago, he may not even remember at this point (unless he still has his notes or whatever he wrote down).

I thought the lyrics referred to the fact that the conception and rebirth of the world is a test from god, and Kagutsuchi itself is one of the shattered pieces of YHVH. Not that it really changes anything to do with the lyrics.

"At war with the megaten wiki" is the most relatable thing I've ever heard. The place is full of biased opinions and won't listen to fact... not to mention they claimed literally every title they could from SMT as a whole so nobody can make their own wiki.

OK, I'm convinced you're right, but "one more god rejected" is far too important to me personally for it to effect how I will interpret the song. This is a great example of death of the author and art though. Does it really matter what the lyrics actually are, the community kinda made it its own thing independent from the artists. Fascinating. Earned yourself a sub.

Before anything else I would like to praise you on how well researched you are in this matter and the lengths you went to just to decipher a single song, and I'm glad fans like this exist who are far more talented and dedicated than most that want to know these things just for the pleasure of knowing them. At the same time this video makes me feel like I'm absolutely batshit insane, because I listen to the voice samples and can hear quite well that the isolated audio matches your recreations very well, and clearly shows what these lyrics are. However in every other instance of this song being played, I hear "One more God rejected" every single time despite my efforts to listen for "War broke out in heaven", and its specifically me hearing the 'j' sound that makes me feel like I'm being pranked where the lyrics for the demonstration were slightly altered from the original as some twisted social experiment. Great video

@@smtandearthboundsuck8400 considering you hate SMT, your opinion doesn't really matter on the subject However, at least war could be referring to the factions fighting against each other That being said, the post conception world isn't what any sane person would describe as heaven The line does makes sense to some of the other SMTs though
