Michael Jordan has no case to be the number 1 NBA player of all time. Lots of players are better than him. When he was in the NBA he was never the number 1 NBA player when he was in the NBA. And he's the most overrated sports star in the history of mankind. Also, Michael Jordan fans have lots of takes where they are wrong, or where they make things up, or where they contradict themselves, or where they move the goal post, or where they don't do enough research, or where they cherry pick things, or where they are not consistent, or where they react in a negative way if someone has a take that they think is taking away from Michael Jordan. Also, Michael Jordan fans are the worst sports fans of all time, and they are the flat Earthers of the NBA world then.....................Now if you disagree, you can go on my program and show me why you are right. If you want to go on email TheTelephoneUniverse@Gmail.Com...........And now watch how most Michael Jordan fans will just ignore the fact that they can go on my program and try to prove me wrong. And they will just type something negative online then.

Wow, that is absolutely delusional. You sound like a flat earther, telling the world "Prove me wrong!!" When it's been proven already that the earth is a sphere a thousand different ways. You didn't even present ONE argument in your LUDICROUS comment that makes any kind of case against MJ = 🐐. You simply made an absurd assertion, and then challenged everyone to "prove you wrong"! You sound like a nut-case. Here - unlike you, I'll actually make a cohesive argument why he's the undisputed 🐐of the sport - he DOMINATED his peers in a way that no other player did (3-peated, TWICE), and was without question the best player in his ERA, without any debate. Lebron had moments of that in his era... but he NEVER had that prolonged stretch of dominance like Jordan, and no one ever has... except maybe Bill Russell, but the # of teams in the league, and the # of hall of famers on his own team, can't be overlooked.

Larry is Top 10 of all time and he knows it lol. Everyone should know it. Most people think of Larry as only being this consistent deep shooter, which he was, but so many don't understand he was everything else as slower and relatively unathletic as he appeared, which he probably was, but the dude still managed to be a genius on the court when it came to anything to win. My dad is a lifelong Lakers fan since the 80's, before I was born, I got to thankfully grow up watching 90's NBA games with him, and he would always tell me how much he HATED Larry Bird only because he was the one factor that could stop a Lakers victory of winning a championship.

People gotta understand how much the NBA has changed. Larry averaged 2 3PA per game on 37% efficiency over his career. For Steph it's 9 on 43%. Steph is bonkers. Easily the greatest shooter all time. His 2016 season was like watching The Matrix. It defied reality. Career playoff averages: Bird averaged 1.5 3PA on 32% efficiency. Steph it's 10.4 on 40%. It's just really hard to compare eras. Would Bird shoot more if he played now? Yeah, most likely. But the reality is his numbers are just too low to rank him as a deep threat.

You gotta understand that back in the 80s the three point line existed, but the only dude who was actually looking at that shot and thinking “yea.. that’s a good shot” was Larry bird. Like nobody shot threes back then, and therefore nobody practiced them, not even bird at least relative to today. Like imagine what kind of a shooter Bird would’ve been had he grown up in the modern era where from basically day one he’d be practicing the three ball. Literally averaging 2 3p shot attempts a game in the 80s was like averaging 10 in 2022. between 1980-1985 the league average 3pa *per team* was less than 5, and even by 1990 teams were averaging less than 8 three point attempts a game.

Yeah but volume is not a reasonable assessment because the guys who played in previous eras were not allowed to shoot 10 3`s a game no matter how great they were shooting the shot because the game was played and coached inside out. Also those guys played with a different set of rules that allowed physical contact with ball handlers on the perimeter and also off the ball. Guys moving without the ball didn`t enjoy the freedom of movement rules that were put in place 10 or 12 years ago that eliminated hard hedging and chipping to impede the progress of off ball cutters. Is Steph the greatest shooter of all time? Maybe. Is Bird? Maybe. Is Mullin? Maybe. Glenn Rice? Maybe. Allan Houston, Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, Mark Price? Maybe. We don`t know and never will because you can`t predict the impact of rules, coaching and style of play of an era. Its easier to play offense in the NBA today then it was in the 80`s and 90`s so is a guy who`s the greatest shooter of an easier era a better shooter then the greatest shooter of a more difficult era?
@EbonKim
@EbonKim 2 жыл бұрын
@@trainerrob1622 Volume is the best assessment. Not allowed is BS reasoning. SC has never had a single season with more FG attempts than Kareem, Lebron, Bryant, Jordan, etc. Kobe had some seasons with a good number of 3P attempts, but he was a mediocre 3-point shooter. His best 3P% was 3.83 when he shot 4 3PA per game. In 12 of SC's full seasons, not counting a 5 game injured season, his worst was .380% with 11.7 3PA. His best, imo, shooting .454% with 11.2 3PA. It's like someone saying Mike Tyson is the hardest hitting heavyweight boxer ever with 44 KO's and a 76.8% KO ratio. However, Goerge Foreman had 68 KO's and a 84% KO ratio. That speaks volumes. Rocky Marciano had 43 KO's with a 87.8% KO ratio, but also never lost a fight. I'd still hand it to George Foreman based on sheer volume and KO ratio.
@trainerrob1622
@trainerrob1622 2 жыл бұрын
@@EbonKim That`s completely idiotic. So you`ve either never played at a high level or don`t just simply don`t know enough about the subject matter to know when you are wrong. First to that BS analogy. You are trying to say rule changes and style changes have no impact, which is just asinine. If George Foreman had 68 KO`s but fought in an era where they were 4 ounce gloves and fighters were not allowed to block punches then that KO rate would not be valid comparing it to Tyson in an era where they wore 8 ounce gloves and fighters could bob, weave and pick off punches. Anyone who`s played at a high level understand its far more difficult to shoot a high percentage on low volume. If you are only getting 3 attempts per night. two or three bad nights and your percentages tank. When you are talking about guys like Mullin and Bird you are talking about guys who were near 49% for their careers on volumes that never broke 4 attempts a game. That means they could have 1-13 and 3-14 nights like we`ve seen Steph have over and over without tanking their percentages into the gutter. They`d never get enough attempts to make up for it with a 6-10 or 8-13. In this years playoffs we saw the officials in the Brooklyn vs Boston series allow the game to be played more akin to the way it was played in the 90`s then present day and the result was one of the most efficient scorers in this era,, hell, a player who`s been more efficient then Steph could not buy a bucket.

You gotta compare them to their contemporaries, and if you look up the league leaders in three point percentage for the three full seasons Hassett played after the 3 was instituted, he was 8th in 79-80, 2nd in 80-81, and 10th in 81-82, and his total number of 3-point attempts over those three seasons was at or near the very top (That would require a little more number crunching than I want to get into lol). in my own opinion 🤔 I didn't saw Bird but base on his documentaries some of his videos Bird is the First one who shot and trash talking while the ball is in the air and doing deep shot without 3s, Also I he predict his shot attempt before the match is start what incredible guy, I want to keep in balance but hand checking I guess it's way more easy to do long shot these days, I saw Ray Allen, even Miller, those guys love catch and shoot because, step back is not pretty effective once someone holding your hips that's Stockton using his back cover and protect the ball because the depender use their elbow attached to thier back unlike this ere it's so easy to run every where because they can't touch or hold the player and also they will counter you by using flops and because of that it's easy to create space like step back shot and long deep shot in my opinion long deep shot is not about the main reason who's a best shooter but it's still part of conversation. Also step is not only a All around player,Bird and Miller is also a Multi task player they also a better mid range than Curry, also Miller can play as a Forward position always attack the Ring very physical if he can, Bird not just taking 3s he also a better forward a Great rebounder than LBJ by 7 rebounds per game, in era which the rules about defense is not nerfed, in old days offence and defence is needed to a player unlike now is all about offence,people forget how step expose him self when they face Durant and OKC, Steve Adam and Durant have keep on eye to step, and guess what step can't score better I guess if I'm right the lead was 1-3 to OKC and I saw Clay Thompson crying with tears even there was a chance in next round Durant guarding curry and step back shot is useless so curry only can do is vintage move like Ray Allen and miller the catch and shoot shot. What I mean is maybe step can still break the record but at his old age if the rules doesn't change but since the defense are way easy than before he can shoot pretty easy but yet I believe step remains I guess the current greatest shooter ✨ but if I ask who I chose whose the better I chose Bird or Miller since they can play forward and attack physically to the Ring like Anthony Davis or MJ.

Bird was my favorite player as a kid and still my all time favorite player. He was the first star to effectively utilize the 3 pointer in the normal course of play, and not just as a desperate last second shot. He was the first legit scorer to shoot about 3 threes per game. So, he taught the league that it could be an effective way to score at a time when no one else thought it was practical. Curry is the better shooter, the best ever by a wide margin, but Bird started the long distance shooting revolution. Kids didn't practice 3s until Bird won the 3 pt. contest in such inspiring fashion. No one knew you could actually make that high a percentage. Bird changed the game. Curry perfected it.... shooting wise...

Larry had to defend his reputation as who'd we remember during his time in the 80s. I believe he popularized the 3 point shot, but the the best teams like the Lakers, Celtics, 76ers, Pistons still putting down 60, 70, 80 points a night in the paint...playing multiple bigs in the paint. It was still a big man's game...different rules. Now with no hand checking, it's been easier to hit threes. Curry has revolutionized the game to a whole new level, with his shot abities. @@phxees true, on percentage, but to some degree the players of today are focusing on three point shooting because of players like Bird, the three was only introduced in Bird’s NBA rookie season, and in his own words, he did not say he was the best but he is in the conversation which (though opinion) I think is true also. (This does not get into the other stats, and areas of the game in which Bird is right there with Curry.) Ultimately the game has changed much since Bird’s time, when threes were not pushed as much by coaches or practiced much. Kevin McHale tells a story of trying to talk Larry out of making a three at the end of the game when Larry was going for the win. Bird ignored him, made the shot, and won the game. Curry born in 1988 while Bird was still playing has undoubtably grown-up shooting (practicing) threes his whole life. Bird started in an era in which there were no threes, did not practice it anywhere near as much as Curry yet his stats are right there. MJ had Dean Smith, Doug Collins and Phil Jackson. All HOFers. Lebron's coaches have been mediocre at best.

How do people forget the kind of shooters that Pete Maravich and Rick Barry were ? And just for pure range and skill in taking long shots Rick Mount and Jerry Lucas were as good as anyone. Lucas turned shooting into a "science" and they called his long range shot "the Lucas Layup" because he made it look so easy. Sadly, Lucas never got to play with the 3-point shot 🏀 because he would have set a lot of records. Dan Issel was another big man with a lot of range on his shot !

Love Larry. My daughter was being born when Indiana was playing New Mexico State (my school at the time) - and it was a long delivery. So I was watching the game at the hospital (played at the PanAm Center in Las Cruces). We had them at the end, but a near half court bucket by Indiana tied the game, and to overtime it went. Larry had fouled out. We lost by 6 afterwards I think. But it was an exciting day for me to say the least... and I always respected Larry during college, and the pros. Oh, and Curry is the best 3 point shooter, or most prolific I should say. He's obliterated the record for most threes as everyone knows. But I'm so glad we had Larry, Magic, Kareem, Dr. J, Irving, Nash, and on and on it goes. Basketball always has something more to offer every year thank goodness. Great grip of kids coming up as well.

You literally copied and pasted what I said, does it say greatest at mid range or finishing? I said that part of his game is "up there", meaning well above average, which it is. There has been zero players like curry, though now days there are many players and teams trying to duplicate what he does. There's been many great shooters, but none that do it from the same distance or with the same efficiently/consistency like curry. Meadowlark Lemons any angle any ark he wants to shoot it because all he ever done was hookshots growing up and he perfected it. He could ark it so high from any angle and make it. That means not even wilt could of blocked it. Especially since it was fast if he wanted it to be. Wilt called him the greatest because he had skills like magic ,2 decades or so before magic. His fullcort to unlimited range skyhook was over 70 percent shooting percentage from half court or beyond. Wilt admired his full skill set more and more. The year he was a globetrotter. "People don't even know who Joey Hassett is and he's one of the best deep shooters I ever saw." I will second that. In the 1979-80 season he was coming off the bench for Indiana. The Pacers were playing the Celtics (Bird's rookie year of course) for the third time in Indianapolis late in the season, and Hassett put on one of the best shooting displays I've ever seen. Start of the game, a complete sellout, it was pretty much a Boston home game: Bird got like a 2-minute standing ovation in the introductions (he was actually wiping his eyes), and by far most of the crowd was behind the Celtics. But surprisingly the Pacers--who were horrible then--were giving Boston a bit of a butt-kicking, and the fans started coming back around and cheering for them. The Celtics tried to retake control in the second half, but Hassett came in late 3rd quarter/early 4th, can't remember precisely, and in just under 2 and a half minutes, he scored 13 points. He hit two 2s and three 3s. On the final one, he caught the ball straight away at the top of the key, backpedaled while dribbling until he was behind the 3-point line, looked down and checked his feet, and then let fly. As the ball was in flight, this wave of sound started rising in pitch and intensity, and when the ball splashed through the net I thought Market Square Arena was going to literally explode. We were way up at the top, and all that tremendous noise rising up and reverberating off the roof was simply incredible. The Celtics were *through*, the Pacers ran them off the court. Hassett's nickname was Sonar, because his teammates said he could find the basket from so deep.

Curry shits all over every other player mentioned in this video, especially when you consider his volume and the way he's guarded beyond the 3 pt line.

@@tombrad9950 Seth Curry, sure. If you're talking about Steph, you are on the strongest drugs ever produced. 3x champ, 2x MVP, 8 time all star against Chris Mullin with only 5 all star selections?

@@mannypacqaio4770 You’re ignoring some facts. When Bird played, the 3 wasn’t focused on. It was primarily a post game. If it had been focused on, Bird would have shot a lot more 3’s and he would be the all time 3 point shots made leader. Yes, Bird would not only be able to compete, he would dominate.

@@mannypacqaio4770 bird wouldn't be able of compete? Bird has more competitivity than the whole today's nba. The fact is tjat bird can shot 3p, low post, after screen, left handed and 2p, besides frees 90%.......and he invented 90/50/40 club that's why i say that is better allarround shooter.

Larry hit some real wisdom there. I mean no not everyone can hit it when it’s tied, but there’s many who can. Not everyone can bring you from behind o tie or win though. Larry was that guy
