This is older Bird, riddled with injuries and whatnot.. that would make the vast majority of athletes retire! Just crazy… And EVEN under those terrible conditions, for his last two seasons Larry averaged 19.7/9.0/7.0/1.4/0.9 on 45.9%/39.6%/90.7% shooting splits… While the Celtics were 71-28 with him and 30-29 without him!

I remember watching this game. Larry Legend was fighting that back injury all season. He was in bad physical shape and playing with pain every game. When he came out of the locker room I got out of my seat and cheered. I’m not even a Boston fan.

What a classic game. Larry looked a little out of shape but his level of play was still the best in this game 5.

Ofc he was out of shape, he was dealing with injuries that would’ve made the vast majority of athletes simply retire! This is after surgery on both heels to remove bone spurs, and with his back totally messed up. He had to stay nights in the hospital, couldn’t even sit on the bench many times had to be lying down, at some point removed a disc from his back, had a compressed nerve root, so on… He couldn’t even practice plenty of times, obviously.

YES foo always... maybe a bit debatable when Jalen then later Ron Artest got there but it still doesn't change the fact that Miller was overrated as a superstar 2guard

@@billybadass3056 well no, he wasn't far and away the best player on his own team, but that's fine. Chuck Person was the leader on the team and this era and arguably even Detlef Schrempf and Rik Smits at certain times were at least as impactful as Miller. Jalen Rose was never much and Artest might have been in the same league as Miller, but in later years, Jermaine O'Neal became the leader of the team, not Miller.

@@johnd2330 okay ONE, Jalen was a really good player his first few yrs there so like I said him being best plyer with Miller is debatable... two, and most important, your comment "was Reggie even the best player on his own team" which at that time of this vid is STILL YES.. NOT who the team leader is because not always is that the same plyer but NOBODY on THAT team was better then Miller now try to change my mind on that..
