@@jpbm1873 The facts--not the stats because stats can be deceptive--bear out that Jordan was the best ever; however, I agree with you 100% about Bird's killer attitude which I believe heavily influenced Jordan's killer attitude and made his game complete as this killer attitude complemented his SKILLS and athleticism. This last point--athleticism--are what separated Jordan from Bird; if Bird had Jordan's athleticism he would be Jordan's clone. This is why James will never eclipse Jordan on KZbin or anywhere else. Much respect to Lebron; however, he is 1 dimensional: he has skills and athleticism but he does not possess the almost psychotic killer instinct that Jordan possesses where he can demoralize opponents by play, sheer will, and character--Jordan's was absolutely ruthless and would mentally rape his opponents into beating themselves. It wasn't enough to have skills and athleticism to play against Jordan or Bird--you had to be a man and believe completely in yourself. And in most cases, this still wasn't enough to beat them.

@@uncletony6210 You can't compare 84 to 92. A lot changed over those years. In 84 Jordan was the third pick to the NBA draft so clearly he wasn't seen as even the greatest talent in his class. As a freshman, Jordan won the NCAA title along with James Worthy and Sam Perkins on that team. Once they left that year, Jordan never made it back to the college finals. Jordan played seven years in the league without a title and as the video said, he was swept twice by the Celtics. To think he was a god in 84 is not realistic. An to think other players bowed to him back then is also not realistic. For the early part of Jordans career, the NBA was the Magic/Bird show- everything else was a side show. Jordan won his first title in 91 so I don't see how you campare his respect in 92 to what he got in 84.
@uncletony62104 жыл бұрын
@@jimjohnson1305 You have to remember that at the time there was a belief that titles could not be won w/o a top tier big man (LA had Kareem; PHI had Moses; BOS had Parish; etc.). MJ was clearly the greatest talent in his class (as evidenced by his winning the NCAA PoY (ahead of both Akeem and Bowie)). Actually, if I had to build a fantasy team, I would have Jordan come off the bench to give my starters a rest and to charge up the 'B' team. I would want Bird, Chamberlain, Magic for sure as starters. This is not meant as disrespect for Jordan but he never really understood the idea that basketball is a team sport. He reminds me of General Patton: great as a pursuit general but otherwise....well, there are better generals to put in there and better NBA players than Jordan.

Bird vs Jordan record in regular season: 17-11. Bird vs Jordan in playoffs: 6 Bird sweeps. Jordan direct quote in response to Bird retiring, "Thank goodness. I'm glad...you brought a lot of sad memories to me." Magic at Bird's retirement ceremony "Larry Bird is the greatest player of all-time"...and only then the torched was passed to Black Jesus, the reigning GOAT. They had and still have ultimate respect for one another, just as any legitimate basketball fan should have for them. They both left the game better than they found it, and that's the most rare trait, even for Hall Of Famers

Bird terrorized MJ. But MJ didn't win championships until the league dismantled the bad boys with the league expansion or we might have seen another championship from Detroit before Chicago started winning. MJ got help from two major events, the retirement of Bird and the league expansion. As well as the league giving MJ the do not touch sign and you can foul as much as you want sign. Difference between Lebron and Larry is Lebron did it with steroids and super teams while Larry did it with a bad back and on the Celtics.
