Bret TV You underestimate his value. His responsibility is to make the guests feel comfortable. He’s always there’s to save them from potentially awkward situations. What I like about larry is that he actually finds comedy funny. He genuinely laughs at his own jokes and those of other people. Some comedians seem not to have a sense of humor, but an understanding of what people perceive as funny, and they use that as a vehicle to fulfill their need for attention.

Read Jean Baudrillard. Seems like Larry David is explaining Baudrillard's theory of the Hyper Reality (corporate marketing and entertainment molds itself after us and in turn we mold ourselves after it, creating the hyper reality), but he's doing it to himself. I also grew up watching Seinfeld every night at dinner and have to acknowledge the cybernetics (how systems effect other systems) of my sense of humor and Larry's writing, someone I didn't even know existed growing up. If television as cultural habitus is the problem The Cable Guy seeks to label Jim Carey's character with, and claim it as the root of his problems, then why are the other character's such generalized yuppie products of corporate marketing and entertainment? The end result of corporate culture, led by the ultra privileged, as habitus, is the production of exactly those type of subjects, consumerist's.
