Good job with all the galleries, Larry. Jesus, I just realized Warhol died at 58 and I'm 56. Andy was a go-getter.

Great interview. As a gallery owner myself, I saw a lot of similarities in my way of thinking to Larry’s which further cement my confidence in being on the right track in running a gallery.

Yes, along with Vrej Baghoomian (Armenian) and Tony Shafrazi (Persian). But ultimately Larry needed on one.

@@fvkc-r-e_2_d_9th-pwr14 I didn't know about Vrej Baghoomian, but Tony Shafrazi is definitely not Persian, he is also Armenian, his parents were Iranian Armenians.

I'd love to be part of the art world and own a gallery or just work in a gallery but I have no idea how I would approach this career path. I guess I better start buying posters of cats but maybe its a little late with the internet cat craze though...

The arrogance and ignorance of this man are astonishing. Like when he says “Cy Twombly painted really fast”…really? But the worse part is when he compared Twombly with Picasso. That is bizarre.
@JustinGreen22 Жыл бұрын
He did know Cy Twombly quite well and worked with him for decades... How come you doubt his assessment of him?
@051963mf Жыл бұрын
@@JustinGreen22 my comment was addressing the fact that Twombly’s style in doing his work was base in many ways in the fast execution of his work and for that it doesn’t take a masters or a PHD. But also, to compare Twombly with Picasso at any level is quite frankly insulting. This man (Gagosian), is the ugly and awful face of the current art market and the undeniable fact that art and culture are completely manipulated by a neoliberal agenda. Depressing.
@JustinGreen22 Жыл бұрын
@@051963mf Thanks for the reply. I have to admit that looking at a Twombly painting leaves me scratching my head. Perhaps I'm a philistine. Are there any readings/vids you would recommend which map out the way art and culture are being manipulated? Sounds like an interesting rabbit hole
