I honestly don’t know of any other Christian song artist that so brilliantly cuts through all the BS and hits you straight between the eyes with the truth. I mean you can play this song to the non Christian community and they’d like it.

King David in the Bible was not perfect either, but look at all the music and psalms he wrote. In fact, I don't know anyone perfect except Jesus Christ. Larry Norman had a heart for God and God used him and is still using his music. Praise God.

Agreed, just like most of the characters in the old Testament, they weren't mentioned in Hebrews for their high std of morality, but their simple faith!

This is pure genius! Larry takes the bawdy blues classic about booty-shaking, "The Duck Yas Yas Yas", and morphs it into a song about the importance of righteous living.

Saw Larry 5 or 6 times in NJ and California. Once, I followed a friend of mine into Larry's dressing room and met the guy. He didn't seem to mind that we were backstage.

Years ago I was helping with a Larry Norman concert in Drachten. Many bands have all kind of demands. He had no demands at all, and asked politely for a sandwich and a coca-cola. Afterwards when we were cleaning up Larry came from the dressing room and sat down with us and chatted with several people. I had a very short chat with him but was too impressed by his presence (he had been my musical hero ever since I was 12 or so) to have a real conversation. I still wish I had some more time and talk a little more. We'll see you in Heaven brother Larry!

Hey, Greg....Do you any one who can deliver this message to Bob Dylan. To cover this song on his next and probably his last release. Without the emotion-and a four minute version. I know he historically cranks out he own music. This song does fit his current lifestyle. It should be on it.

orrjamesjames Don't worry about what you think Bob "needs" to hear. Just pray for him and mind your business.

@@seanmoore1068 Bob was a very overt on fire Christian that from all appearances needs to come back to Jesus. We really should reach out to those who have fallin from the faith and of course pray for then too. James 5:19-20, Gal.6:1.

Would he have had a different life if he would not have had the airplane incident- overhead cargo bay opened and heavy luggage landed on his head. That's the story I've read at least. Apparently affected his mental capacities in some ways. Was this something that led to his averent behaviour? Still like his music!
@perrydaciuk63084 жыл бұрын
@@geescravi Personally, as significant the airplane accident was and how it affected his creativity, there were a number of other things in Larry's life that were somewhat off the rail, starting before the accident. It gets pretty complicated very fast. Some people (as those who did the film the Outlaw Larry Norman) over-simply things and simply refer to him as a narcissist, manipulator, control freak and outright shyster. I will not get into what he is accused of. I do know none of us are perfect. Am I excusing Larry? No. We are also responsible for our decisions and actions. Larry hurt a number of people, mostly those who were close to him. It's sad really. But are we so without sin, that we dare cast stones at him and disregard the grace and mercy available to us all through Jesus Christ. Although he found inspiration from various sources and even "copied" others (a form of tribute I would think) Larry's music was focused on Jesus Christ and living righteously for Him personally and as a church. Through his creativity and music he gave us a profound gift, regardless of his flaws and failings. I never knew the man personally, though I met him once. But his music and production values changed Christian music and provided a new form of evangelism that didn't exist quite in the same way. I love his music and his zealous nature (not unlike Keith Green), but I do NOT idolize the man. He had serious problems. But thank God for his talent and the legacy of his music he left behind.

I liked Larry's music better in the early days when he was copying Beatles, Dylan and Leon Russell tunes. These blues/rock songs that he did from time to time are kind of soul-less. He was pretty decent in concert, but kind of a prima donna.
