I have that exact same reel bro. I’m new to using bait caster , bass fishing & also a new subscriber to your channel. I have some questions about how did you set up your drag , and your line from get tangled up when casting.

Your best friend is the tension knob on the side. Hold your rod in front on you and let your lure/bait drop and if the spool keeps spinning after it his the water you have to tighten your tensioner. If you tighten it all the way you won’t get the birds nest but you won’t be able to cast as far. All lures and bait are weighted differently so you have to adjust on the fly. When I was beginning I would start with the brakes full on as well as tension until I got comfortable then it’s just adjusting to where you like it.

I have an Abu Garcia Revo S and an STX as well as a Veritas rod. I love the rod. Like the reels. I've had problems with the the side plates wanting to pop open on both reels. It's a shame because they are the smoothest reels I own. I find myself gravitating to my Curado and Tatula.

Only thing I’m not liking about the new max combos is the reel seat looks like the lighting shock rods which break a lot but I’ve had my max x spinning since they came out and it hasn’t cracked yet like several shock rods did to me

@@dannyherrera7596 currently my most expensive combo is a $97 Walmart lews xfinity. I have one combo I pieced together with a $50 Amazon gift card from my job. Kastking reel ($7 for tax and shipping out of pocket.) and an Abu Garcia 7’3” Medium moderate rod originally $90 at Walmart that was on clearance for $14. Less than $25 in my $140 combo. Then I have some other random pieced together rods and a lews American hero that was about $80 if I remember correctly. They all catch the same fish. I just want to spoil myself with something nicer lol.
