Hello, happy holidays thank you for another great reaction. FYI, Kevin is first generation American. His father ( a doctor) was born in Nigeria and his mother is from Grenada. So many of their African-and island vibes come from him. A side note. Kevin was sent to Andover Prep and graduated from Yale in premed While at Yale he spent a year plus in China and learned to speak Mandarin fluently. He is classically trained in cello and invented cello/ boxing Where he does both at the same time🤯. On several of their tracks. ( ie. Say Something, Shallow, Perfect, Radioactive). He jokes that until they soldout Madison square Garden , his father was not too happy that he gave up Medical School to beatbox for a living. Oh yes he also has perfect pitch Kevin is for real a genius and such a gift to all of us. They are all so talented.

PTX themselves call them a band and refer to each other as bandmates. Their instruments are just their voices :) They do of course use instruments some times: (this is not a complete list) - Cello (Kevin): Perfect, Thank You, Over the River, Papaoutai, Radioactive, Dancing on My Own, Shallow, Cologne - Violin (Lindsey Stirling): Over the River, Papaoutai, Radioactive - Piano (Scott): Thank You, Over the River (the live version), Petals - Guitar (Eric Leva): Evergreen - Drums (Matt): Over the River (live version)

I just want to give a shout out to Kevin. One of the reasons Scott, Kirstie and Mitch are so incredible is that they've been singing together since high school and can almost read each other's minds while singing. They know each other so well. Kevin and Avi joined the group and the two of them worked to become so in sync with each other. They were truly meat and potatoes in the way they connected and built the foundation for the songs. Then Avi left and Kevin had to start at square one building that same oneness and connection with Matt. And he has done it in spectacular fashion. That can't have been easy and it might not have worked out. They might not have been able to connect in that same magical way Kevin and Avi connected. Luckily for us, they did, and I just want to give Kevin and Matt (yes, I know Matt isn't in this video) so much credit for the hard work and focus they did to keep the Pentatonix foundation super strong and incredible. P. S. I love this song. Such an original take on a classic.

Thanks for a great reaction and your patience with the blocking and copyright issues! I love how Pentatonix upgrades their Christmas songs to include more cultural diversity and cover different genres of music. They just released two new ones that are amazing like this one is: "Over The River" and "12 Days Of Christmas". I don't want to give too much away but both songs are a surprise twist with the different genres of music and culture and you would love them!

Hi Larryshair....I so agree with you. What a DIFFERENT take on a very traditional song. There definitely is an "Island" texture to the song. I was in Jamaica for a while and also lived in the Bahamas for 2 years....but when it comes to Jamaican music, It is a very unique style. I so appreciate Pentatonix and their take on this one. After so many years of listening to the "traditional" versions, it is a breath of fresh air. At least, that is my feeling about this version. Thanks so much for sharing it with us......Carole.....

I love your videos, I love that you are able to show emotions unlike many others. You have a great eye for detail and I can feel the compassion you show. Especially in your Aurora reactions. I absolutely adore you! But enough butter for the road. If you find the time and feel like you need something for the laughs, I suggest Bo Burnham's 'Welcome to the Internet'. And if you would like to feel a little warmer in the winter, 'Line without a hook' by Ricky Montgomery should do the trick. It is my favourite song and has some personal meaning to me. It is notable that you heard it as an "Islander" take. It is a tribute to Kevin's Nigerian heritage. Which leads you to a "cultural trace" of where the Caribbean people may have originated. But let's not forget the Psalms that suggest that we should make a joyful noise to the Lord. If this ain't joyful, you've got no joy in you.

The SME copyright blocks plague many reactors. One of the things I have seen that seems to ward off the copyright blocking minions is either putting words over the video or making it transparent or some other way of making the video in image undetectable by the YT 🤖.

Something is a bit off with the balance between their microphones in this performance. Their voices are not as perfectly balanced as they usually are, plus you can hear some of them straining their voices sometimes, which in my experience means that they might have a hard time hearing themselves... all technical issues... I would (as I can see many others do too) recommend you to go listen to their music video of this song and get the entire experience, as this one fall a bit short imo. 😊🌟

It should help the blocking if you reduce the size of the video screen and put a graphic over it or make it more transparent. Or even blur it completely if you have to.
@tamarasmith90602 жыл бұрын
Their label & several others have become known to just copyright block everything unless you do 1 of a few different tricks. What works the smoothest is overlaying the video with a semi-sheer "watermark" of words or a logo. For instance for PTX vids I've seen an overlay of the album cover or other picture of the band, the name of the band, the words "fair use, reaction only" or "for preventing copyright block" & similar text. If you do that it won't matter how many times you stop for comments, because the video has been clearly messed with. I've seen others cause the video to blur, but you have to really do it a lot or it won't work so it's just like covering the video completely & leaving the audio. If you don't have the ability to overlay watermarks (not a computer person myself so I don't know what you need do that) I've seen reactors making the video being reacted to simply lag 4-5 seconds behind its audio & themself. I've also seen others just go back in after making their video & cut in several times with 2 second black screens with text that says something about for copyright purposes, because they realized they didn't stop to comment often enough but don't want to cut out any of their reaction. Of course that's more jarring to have to keep stopping it, but it works & most viewers understand about reactors having to do that stuff.

It is an ORIGINAL by the 5 of them, all vocal and all jazz stylings. They even made the Sheet Music for the song FREE to the public without royalties, meaning that Highschool choirs, college and public choirs all had a VERY Challenging song with a massively intricate score to perform.
