I love hook and bobber fishing. You don't know what you are going to catch? 2 years ago, I went out on an inland lake. (Last year. I was physically unable to go) Scored nothing but perch, with an occasional blue gill. Never caught one bass all year. Last week. I caught a monster 7lbs largemouth. Some blue gill. But tons of bass. Another 4 pounder. I only caught two tiny perch. I was going to have a fish fry. But it was 10pm and I knew my wife overbought Brats and Hamburgers. So, I let them all go. Only 2 fish causalities. One small perch and one small Indian sunfish. Question. One of the bass I caught swallowed the hook. NO WAY was I getting it out without killing the fish. It was hooked right in the middle gullet. (Looks like tongue) So, I cut the line as at the hook knot and let him go. My friend said I doomed the fish to a slow death. Some say the hook will dissolve. It was a 1 1/2-pound bass. Opinions.
