being quite and older guy, in Chicago area music, I met a number of people who were friends with Buddy Rich. His sticks were not signature. He bought the cheapest bulk crap he could find. He never checked for warping or how they felt. He just played. He would play with cracked or broken sticks. Nothing got in the way.

@@highlovevibration As a musician who was starving to get noticed, what Lars did to Napster directly affected me. Lars effectively ended a free platform for undiscovered artists to spread the word. I was more than fine with people sharing my music for free. In fact I encouraged it. Because those people may come see me play for the price of a ticket. They might buy my album or some merch. And they may do this repeatedly. Which would generate a LOT more money than a couple cents you get in royalties. Now as far as Load and Reload goes. You came to the game late so you didn't already have a bond. An expectation. And I always said if Load and Reload was some different new band, they would be good CD's. But when those albums came out, those of us that had become fans of the prior albums sees those two as appeasing the mainstream. Ignoring the fans that made them what they were to begin with.

@@jakubantos6981 I seen in an interview that Lars as well most everybody in Metallica was writing parts they couldn't even play. They were learning the parts as they were recording the songs. Plus Lars didn't have the concept of steady tempo so he had to learn to play the parts he wrote in time with the other parts of the songs. That's why in songs there are parts that are different bpm speeds. For instance the ending to For whom the bell tolls . It's not the same speed as the rest of the song. In a way it's kinda ingenious. It was definitely different from all the other thrash bands at that time.
