Why not use the "event state" node instead of current state node and inject node? Using the event state node will do the same thing with only on node and you don't have to check every minute.

Fantastic!! yes, why wouldn't I 🤔 Thanks Danni, that is brilliant and I just changed it too. This is why I love this channel and the YT community. I learn something new all the time ☺

I'm in the US and don't have a mini split (that's what we call it here anyway) i have a full HVAC central heat/air system and am using a ecobee thermostat which i have integrated into home assistant through it's homekit controller integration. Can do pretty much the same thing as your doing. To control IR/RF devices i have a broadlink RM pro 4 (about $45 US)i have integrated with home assistant which controls my TV/soundbar, my IR fireplace, and some IR candles i have. Nice thing about it is it can learn any IR/RF remotes commands and use them, not just climate remotes and its cheaper. Also have a first alert zwave smoke/carbon monoxide detector integrated into HA which allows me to turn off the HVAC in case of smoke/CO is detected.

All good things Larry. I am also looking at the Broadlink, for automating IR fans and lights in two bedrooms. I went with the Sensibo, as it is a guest cottage, and I only need to do one thing that I will never have to touch again. I like the smoke detector, but I don't use Zwave. I was looking at the Google Nest instead, to do something similar.

Great vid. IMO the price of the sensibo is beyond my pain threshold and return period to recover costs of capturing actual door open events is probably in the 10's of years. Could probably execute this for 1/10th the cost using esphome and have the Esp look after door state with an old school magnetic door sensor as well as running the ir transmitter

That's the beauty of home automation and IoT. There is always another way to solve the problem 😊

i recommend the broadlink rm mini, their are way cheaper than Sensibo and it works in home assistant too.

That is an interesting device too, and I am getting one for another project on the farm. The Sensibo is a good solution for this scenario as well 😊

Ha ha - I’m doing exactly this - waiting for some Aircon controllers (I went down the Tuya path vs sensibo) ….
@LarsKlintTech

Nice. I did consider Tuya too, but the Sensibo is just so easy to use, and having one already I went with that ☺

I think the 5 I got cost about the same as one sensibo - I’ll let you know how “good” they are ha ha - the sensibo setup looked really swish!!

@Lars Klint I’ll send you a note - these ones I picked up are great! Connect via Tuya, enter name of air con (or tv or other device) - seems they have the database of IR commands already, available via HomeAssistant - very happy with them

@@KeranMcKenzie Awesome! Being Tuya compatible is almost a necessity now for "unbranded" IoT devices.

Will sensibo sky work on central HVAC system which does not have remote?? Also how do we control the heat pump on and off cycle (fyi- my heat pumps system dont have remote to turn on and off) ??
@LarsKlintTech
@LarsKlintTech 6 ай бұрын
Sensibo only works with infrared signals. It mimics your remote control. You could look into something like a Switchbot to press a button, or use a simple ESP32 board and wire it in, but that is pretty advanced.

Was thinking, would a nice idea be if the door is open for say 5 mins, notify the guest house (assuming you have a speaker in there) that the door has been left open for 5 mins with the aircon on, and then turn the a/c off? Do you make it turn back on automatically or is that part of the 'punishment' that you have to manually turn it back on? (and makes it simpler... lol) I keep meaning to turn my heating off if the front door is open for 5+ mins, but it's getting the right automation to turn it back on again afterwards (don't accidently want it turning on when it shouldn't)
@LarsKlintTech
@LarsKlintTech Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the watch Stephen. There are certainly many possibilities. I don't turn it back on, as that could also be the wrong choice. When guests leave the door open, they do it for extended periods of time, and when it is finally closed again, the context for why the air con was on is gone. It's not about "punishment", but more about using devices with conscience. Also, a speaker will attract attention and make people try and use it themselves, or it becomes too much of a surveillance topic.
@Stephen-Jones
@Stephen-Jones Жыл бұрын
@@LarsKlintTech good point about the surveillance, it's one thing to do it in your own home and totally different for a guest house (don't want to creep the guests out).

Can 1 sensibo be connected to multiple aircons of the same brand that is about 5ft apart
@LarsKlintTech
@LarsKlintTech Жыл бұрын
Good question. Yes....and no. The Sensibo just blasts out an IR signal, and whatever receives it will react. So, yes multiple aircons can receive the signal, but no you can't pair with multiple. I hope that make sense.

how do you even connect sensibo to home assitant. Its asking for an api key
@LarsKlintTech
@LarsKlintTech 6 ай бұрын
Good question! Go to home.sensibo.com/ and log in with your Sensibo account. You can then create an API key there.
