Ok can u just tell me how did u get to know you had TENSION in your LARYNX? i am a pianist, musician and i have learnt singing but i don't sing bcoz after puberty my voice suddenky became a lot bassy than a normal man's voice. I mean i speak almost 1 octave down a normal person. So i need to improve my voice so that i can sing in normal octave which is G3.

@Abdelhalim SKHIRI try voice therapy. There are many programs out there. I was wrong I do not have mtd. I have something similar to presbyphonia which is the medical term for weak ol' vocal chords typically found in the elderly. Also can be labeled as deconditioned vocal folds/muscles or vocal fold atrophy. Dr. Joseph Stemple made a program called Vocal Functional Exercises.

Hi Elissa, I watch your other video titled "Full Laryngeal Massage" and I feel that is being helpful to me, so thank you for that. I have a problem and if you could provide your advise that would be great. When I talk a bit more, the occipital muscles (lower backside of the head ) are hurting. Do you find this strange, or do you find there is a connection here. I was wondering why would talking trigger a pain in the back of the head. Can you please suggest what is causing this and what exercises can really help with this. I really appreciate your help here.

Yes that's normal! It's most likely the thyroid and cricoid cartilage moving past one another. Just be gentle. Glad it helps! :)

@VoiceBodyConnection6 жыл бұрын
Alison try to find the flat parts of the cartilage of your larynx. Google "larynx" and/or "thyroid cartilage" so you can see what it looks like. Then apply gentle pressure side to side. If your larynx is very tight it might not move much but that's okay... gentle always!

Great question! I totally wouldn't call it laziness - it is overwhelming to learn so many new things you "should" be doing every day! Hi Sawan, great question! I too had muscle tension dysphonia and yes, I've addressed it through massage like this and other muscle tension reducing exercises as well. @VoiceBodyConnection6 жыл бұрын
Ooh good question! The stylohyoid isn't an easy one to stretch, but when you bring your head into alignment and then tilt from side to side (as in, one ear towards the shoulder and then switch) it can lengthen it. All to this exercise sticking your tongue out and you've got a good stylohyoid stretch!

hello I've been told that I have nodules on both sides of my laryx and they might go away using a vocal therapy, otherwise I will need a surgery. it's been three month now but I don't feel any change in my condition. I still have vocal fatigue and feel pain while I try to talk in my throat Do you think your massage exercises can be of help for my nodules?
@VoiceBodyConnection6 жыл бұрын
Yes exercises like this could help! But it's important for you to be doing coaching with a speech therapist too. Are you seeing someone who is helping you?
@sp91616 жыл бұрын
Yes. I've been visiting a speech therapist (one a week) since the time I was diagnosed with the nodules like three months ago. But I wonder why it still hurts or weakens now and then when I try to talk. Can it be because she is not a reliable therapist or do I need to wait like a long time for my full recovery? Sometimes I can't stop thinking that speech therapy does not work on my nodules and the only way is surgery. In the town where I live (north Iran) there is no other speech therapist. And I know that she is doing her best. Btw could you please recommand other useful tips or exercises?
@VoiceBodyConnection6 жыл бұрын
It really depends. I'm glad you're seeing a therapist, but it's true that sometimes speech therapy doesn't do the full trick for recovering from nodules. Ideally you want to be working with a speech therapist who specializes in voice. I also highly recommend trying vibration exercises for your voice: check out www.vibrantvoicetechnique.com.
