Las Diablillas will not be stopped from playing softball | Fuera Del Ballpark

The Diablillas (Little Devils) of Hondzonot, Quintana Roo, Mexico are a group of Mayan women who play softball. Through the sport, the mothers, wives, daughters, and friends are reshaping horizons for the next generation of Mexican women. This is their amazing story of perseverance. This is the 3rd and final episode of our Fuera Del Ballpark series, celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.

There was a young woman from Mexico that played on my co-ed softball team a couple years ago here in Canada. She played 3rd and I was playing 1st. That girl had a great arm. When the ball was hit near her I knew the batter was going to be out. She could hit almost as good as our best male batters and they were not weak men. After the season she went back to Mexico and sent us a live link to her team playing in the championship. Was an entertaining game to watch.

Admirable el tezón y el entusiasmo con que juegan estas damas. Son de descendencia Maya y de una población del estado de Yucatán, México. Secondly, frankly, I don't want any more foreigners in major league baseball. It is getting ridiculous at this point where about thirty percent are Dominican, Venezuelan, Cuban, etc. I have no interest seeing teams filled with non Americans.
