Im honoured to live in an alerce wooden tile house made by my father and grandfather. Modern houses dont use alerce anymore cause they are protected now.

I was wondering if there would be houses with this style in other parts of the world.

We have a similar type of siding that is used in New England where I live, but it is made from a type of wood called cedar and not from alerce. Here all of the siding usually has the same squared-off shape though. They are not as interesting and unique as the ones in southern Chile. My house has them, but ours are made of fiber cement. It is an alternative to wood siding. It looks almost like wood and will hopefully last just as long, if not longer.
