Excalibur holds a special place in my heart because of my parents taking me as a kid in the 90s but I wouldn't stay there unless I have kids of my own some day. The Luxor is the coolest looking building on the strip imo

I stayed at Luxor last month for the 2nd time in 5yrs. It was great fun both times. Not crazy expensive. The resort is fun and laid back with lots to do. The location isn’t a big issue if you don’t mind taking the Deuce- it’s a great value. Rideshares around the strip aren’t expensive either. I stayed in the pyramid both times. It was clean, safe, comfortable. Nothing fancy, a bit older. Had a great dinner at Tender for probably half the price of other strip steakhouses. The hotel theming is just fun. If I have a complaint they skimp out on small maintenance things. Chipped paint, peeling wrap off the elevator doors etc. overall I’d stay again.

Nice video Jordan. Myself I have a soft spot for both properties. I was at the opening of Luxor for my honeymoon in 1993. I won $5K at the Excalibur.

We always stay at Luxor when we visit Vegas. We always enjoy our stay and the customer service is amazing there.

You might add a category or enhance the room category to include a rating for room service. I stayed at the Excalibur several years ago and needed to order room service for breakfast and dinner. It took hours on both meals and when breakfast was finally delivered it was WRONG after all that waiting. Excalibur made up for that by not charging us for the breakfast but I wasn't looking for a free meal. I just wanted good service. Nice video! I appreciate all your efforts!

Neither property offers room service anymore. A generic "service" category might be helpful, but these days there isn't always much to rate it on. Thanks as always for watching!

I'm glad Luxor won. Excalibur, for me, is only good for its arcade. My family and I had a lot of fun there the last time we went together. But I did see Excalibur just opened a new center bar. I might check it out next time I'm in town.

I stayed in both, mainly for the conventions at the mandelay bay , what would be helpful is to add the room prices , as there is a difference that could be a real factor in for 4 nights stay . Thanks for making the video , keep it up

I just stayed at Excalibur last week & I was really pleasantly surprised. Had a great time at the pool renting a daybed & I was happy that housekeeping did come to my room everyday for a touch-up. Def happy to stay there again if comps & stuff come my way!

Hey Sir Jordan ….while I like the outside theming of both properties I’d rather sleep in my car than in Excalibur aka the dirty castle 🏰. I think the food options for either one is pretty tragic. I think your assessment was spot on. For me I prefer the high end resorts so for MGM I only stay at Bellagio or Aria though I do also like Mandalay Bay but the location is a deal killer. Excellent review as always 😎😎😎

I agree. The tower rooms at Luxor are nicer than the pyramid rooms and are far superior to the rooms at Excalibur. Plus, it's only like a 10-minute walk over to Excalibur if you want to gamble over there.

I prefer the pyramid to the tower. The tower is too far away from the casino for my taste and when I stayed in the tower, the elevator was broken for most of my stay.

I also prefer the rooms at Luxor (by far) but love playing in the Excalibur casino by a wide margin. No matter which one you choose, the other is right next door, so you can't lose.

Total agreement. The hate some people have for these two hotels is a bit much. No, they're not the Wynn, but they don't pretend to be either. They are what they are.

@@ShowMeVegasI totally agree. The hate & disdain for these properties is overblown. They aren’t the high end but they certainly aren’t as bad as some people make them out to be. It could be much worse. The standards for Vegas have raised so much that these very serviceable resorts are near the bottom now. They definitely have a place and they have been updated and adding entertainment like the new Center bar @ Excalibur which I think is a great location and ambiance. Luxor has added to the atrium level and been updating many pyramid rooms

You can also use the MGM Grand Pool Complex if you stay at any MGM resort property Excalibur is a close to walk to MGM and the Excalibur rooms with a tub are better and still a room you can get compd

The rooms at Luxor (especially the tower rooms, I prefer the East Tower) are definitely better. I’ve stayed at both several times and like the south strip because it’s not as crowded and you don’t have the pushy hustler people on the street trying to run their scams. Luxor pool is definitely better IMO. Restaurants are a push. I like Buca @ Excalibur & Public House @ Luxor. Casino is better @ Excalibur. The atrium experience @ Luxor is one of a kind to be in a pyramid. Shows I think are better @ Luxor. Very tough to pick a winner so your scorecard is very reasonable

okay. first. well done. a very straight forward and simple comparison. and i actually agree on pretty much all of it. i stay at luxor all the time. i have developed a bond with so many people that work there. i can find my way around blindfolded. ironically my preference is the west tower, now the gold tower. avoid pyramid. i go there 6 to 8 times a year so pretty familiar with it. my big addition to this review is location. you mention that excalibur is farther north. yes. but i love the fact that luxor is farther south! a short walk into mandalay bay and you go though the shoppes at mandalay bay. basically, you can enjoy a higher end property for a budget price without ever going outside. this turns location for me into a 10-0 rout. the galleries and the dining and the shops just in the walk to mandalay are far superior to excalibur. then you have the dining at mandalay which blows both reviewed properties away. also you have the convention area, shark reef, ultra events center, and access to allegiant. i will stop now. thanks for posting this. very cool!!

Thank you for the video. This has helped me decide on which property to stay at. Category 2 & 3 hold the most value for me so I’ve decided to stay at Excalibur. If I understood you correctly the tram only makes sense from mandalay bay to Excalibur as the others are quicker to walk?

We have stayed at the Luxor….those inclinators got me dizzy. The room was really nice. The food was decent and the entertainment was good. We have never stayed at Excalibur but the entertainment was fun. We also won at Excalibur but never at Luxor. To get a better room at a more economical price, we stay at the Orleans. The food was very good and the casino was small but we won, so it made it great. Thank you for the vid. These comparison vids are very informative.

day finally rid of dat cheesy doritos orange film on luxor huh...no pun intended! huge i sore! i went to vegas in dec of 2023 1st time and i feel i know the strip by heart and memory cuz all the videos on utube lol..its like being there in personn thru walking videos! props to all the utubers! i plaan to go backk in the summer and do freemont as well as southpoint and spriing mt rd shops

Great video! Having gone to vegas for at least 12 years at this point, my feeling has always been "luxor if youre in your 20s on a budget, have energy and stamina to walk the strip, and want some more adult theming" with Excalibur being "if you want to bring your kids to vegas but dont want to blow a bellagio budget on a 6 year old and can tolerate the lower quality by supplementing your experience with other stuff on the strip" I think (?) You guys have kids? Does that sound like a fairly accurate representation? I also have never stayed in Excalibur and not in luxor for 8 years, but ive been in both at least once a year for gambling

Great comparison between the two, but from a recent pricing for April 6 through the 10th of 2025, Excalibur had the lower rates. Not only that, the location is great if you want to use the Las Vegas Monorail and not depend so much on the Deuce bus.

Neither is great for dining but Luxor clearly has better dining. Diablos, Public House, Tender, the Cafe. Excal has fast food and a gimmick place with avg bar food. It’s not close.

Tap is pretty comparable to Public House, and Diablo’s is a shell of what it used to be. Excalibur also has Bucca di Beppo. For a budget property Excalibur has what it should, which is a ton of affordable options. As I mentioned, Luxor has better quality but Excalibur has considerably more options.

The one con of the Luxor pool is there’s no coverage, when the wind is bookin on that side of the strip, all the dirt and debris blows in the pool and gets on you

I've been staying at one of these two followed by 3-4 nights at Cosmo for the past few years. I definitely prefer the rooms at Luxor, especially the Tower rooms. Excalibur casino is fun, and I always seem to have my biggest wins there. If MGM prices me out of Cosmo when they take over, maybe I'll check out NYNY, and split my stay with a Caesar's property.

TIME to PAINT the EXTERIOR of the Luxor’s Egyptian theme! NEVER stay in a Hotel that has a “Thru The Wall” air conditioner like Excalibur. The “Dirty Castle” needs to be imploded. The cost to do so would be greatly reduced because they do not have the level of internal duct work. Luxor for the win!
